Hello world,

I've recently purchased the LG 25UM57 monitor along with a HDMI to VGA converter, as the monitor only has HDMI ports and my PC only has a VGA and DVI port.

After connecting, the monitor senses the connection but there is no signal. So I'm thinking of trying a HDMI to DVI converter, but would this work? If you know of any alternate solutions please let me know, thanks!

Buy a DVI to HDMI 2 converter, that should work

 

Yes, DVI -> HDMI cable. I use them too.

Before spend money again you could test the monitor plugging it to a different device (ie Blu-Ray Reader). Or ask someone else to help you to test the monitor.

 

HDMI to VGA does not work because the former is digital and the latter is analog. A real converter would require a box in between.
HDMI to DVI works because they're both digital and I'm using it right this moment to connect my 4th monitor.

As it's a digital signal- If the cable works, then you're getting the best results possible. The best HDMI/DVI cable for anyone is the cheapest one they can find that works. Monoprice is where I would go.

 

Sherlock, ALL HDMI 2 to dvi will work, they are standardized

your current cable only supports up to 1080p
