Can someone tell me how to effectively hide my ip address? Is there a particular service or app you would recommend?

*** in other disturbing news .. here in New York City .. our state just passed the law last night expanding the government DNA bank for criminals. So it will now include low level crimes ... which means .. if you do something stupid like not pay your train fare .. or get into a fist fight in a bar. You will now have your blood taken and your DNA will be stored in a DNA bank. I'm all for stopping crime.. but with such a corrupt system we have in place a move like this is just so bad. What a crazy year so far. It's turning into one of those bad science fiction movies about the future.

 

As a musician its only because I can download a fully working version that I will then decide whether I really need that vsti or program then I go and buy it...

 

Yeah it's a pretty stupid logic...but one that's repeated over and over again it seems.

There is no way to hide your online activities from your ISP. As you have to use their gateway to access the web and they can see and trace all activity

Not true at all. Look up Transport Layer Security (TLS)/SSL and Vpn, both provide secure connections, all your isp see's is an encrypted datastream.

 

basically you would have to use something like tor or i2p and use a vpn through it along with something to obfuscate your traffic.
its not ridiculously difficult, just a headache to have to resort to such measures.

i figured this would happen when they replaced those root dns servers on the 8th
they essentially took over the internet for lack of better words.
the only downfall is that if they start shutting down services on an ISP level, there wont be anything you can do to counteract it.

I don't know if this is an stupid question, but i was wandering ...
Would not be possible to contract an internet connection with an ISP outside the US and still use this connection in the US ?.
Sure it's a nonsense question and perhaps technically impossible, but ... if you don't mind i would like to know why should this not be possible (if it is not) ?

There is only 3 internet companies mention here, Comcast, Time Warner, and Verizon

does that include AT&T too ?
