Collectively known as The Loudness Petition Group, the initiators of this petition ask audio streaming services to implement a normalized loudness level in line with the Audio Engineering Society recommendations.

According to them, not only would this result in more homogeneous sound levels but also in improved sound quality and a better respect of the artist's intent.

You can sign the petition and/or get more details about it here.

I guess... (the petition) it's a waste of time. :dj::crazy:

the music industry has been over this a thousand times, the have failed to push it.

I think the ball is at the music streaming services that could easily implant this.
if they make it mandatory at all their platforms, content authors will deliver as far as they are concerned.

I think most not-EDM/Pop artists agree with ending this Loudness War but unfortunately commercial music industry is in the hands of mainstream artists/record labels and their philosophy is Louder=Better.

But as Kwiss said, streaming services can change that someday. (Maybe if there's enough money for them :dunno:)

personally i programm alot of hardstyle stuff in a few diff genres but mainly dnb and yeah i understand exactly about the whole loudness wars and ive come to belive that theres nothing wrong with holding a mix back.
Usually im very aggressive and much of the time i will be "mixing way way way into the limiter"
I try not to do that anymore although its handy to be able to if needed as i understand not everyone can always pull it off "me included"
Unless ive misinterpreted your meaning of "loudness wars"

And don't forget the TV channels that over compress so much that, in movies, the ambiance is at the same level as dialogues much of the time.

It is just like any war: nobody really wins.

edit: signed, of course. I really hope all the streaming services will implement some kind of a loudness control and make all the tracks play at the same loudness. I don't care what loudness standard they use, just do something ffs! It is so irritating to hear so many good tracks ruined by limiting and distortion.

I believe the biggest one is still YouTube and they already did it.

wow, I did not know that.

so the 2 biggest content providers being you-tube and spootify are already there?
my masters usually set between DR8 at most and DR14. the last time I checked that is.

what peaked my interest that the original DR meter seems to correlate to much with bass heavy material,
and could use perceived frequency plot if it not already has that or a little more
