Hey man, recently joined, cool song and vibe. I think the comment re plugins was unnecessary though.
Is your point that you dont need plugins? Because you then list a bunch of plugins.
Or is it just that using cheap/free plugins proves you have more "skills"? MJUC and SDRR have a relatively low price sure, but they are regarded as some of the best out there. So what is the point you trying to make.
And if you want feedback re the actual mixdown, it does need work, there is some clashing of the upper mid frequencies of your bass quitar at some points of the track, and some of the panned guitars come in too loud, it does sound like a "computer" mix down, being fully honest. Check the mixdown on something like a car stereo, and headphones, is alsways good practice for exposing harshness.

My point was what I stated right off the bat: I like to keep things simple and don't need overpriced, pretty plugins to sound good. In short, I like doing the best I can with what I have to use and what skills I have. Not that I have MORE skills. I'm saying that even if you don't have Waves or Slate, etc. You can make a good mix with simplicity and the basics. Is that a bad message?
    Thanks for the observations.

@Mariano I really appreciate the encouragement. It's always a shakey for me when I come up with something after having been out the loop for a while (almost a year). My guitars and mic were literally gathering dust. Maybe the break was needed.

@midi-man That's part of the reason I was surprised by the comments. The majority of the music I've heard posted has been electronic, which is totally cool, so I thought posting this might get one or two comments and just blow over. My assessment was wrong. Asex has more variety of listeners (and by extension, musicians) than I gave it credit for.

I like music and when people play instruments it really thrills me to the bone. It's call talent to me. This is not disrespectful to anyone to me it's just is more of a creative process when you create it from scratch.

What I thought was really cool was that neither of the guys on this heard what the other would be doing. They only heard themselves together after I received all their tracks. Vibing from a distance. Both just happen to be Canadians. Canada got the funk!

    Compositional, not forcibly mixing.

Good guitars players can think sort of what the other might be doing and mesh well. I have the same, with collaborations with my03 and mr.wolf14 even though one play keyboards and the other bass. We just seem to compliment each other. I know it's not the same as 2 guitars playing with each other but musicians know when shit just happens and it sounds good.

The instrument doesn't matter at all, I feel. It's the soul behind it, which pretty much says the same thing as you just did.

Thanks guys. Now that I've had some space between listening to the song, I can hear ways I'd like to improve it. I really like being at a stage where I feel I can always do better. Keeps things challenging.
I've seen that "blame it on SC" a lot. I think I got by because there's no "mastering" done on my mix. It's straight tracks with a limiter on the mixbus only to catch stray peaks, but not to louderdize. I figured SC would do its own louderdizing.
