I produced a track for an artist and we both got Prs so I'll be paid whenever the track is used, nothing as yet, which I understand as PRS pays a certain time anyway.

I've just been contacted by this artist that a sync company contacted him...this is the exact text

'They said as a precaution, can I get a signed document from every composer so that no one else can chime in saying they made the beat and or wrote the lyrics etc'

My question is, what's my position if the beat I produced is placed on a project (placement) by this sync company as any tracks from his album may be used?

What position should I take now before I sign anything to ensure that I get what I deserve, how will PRS be affected, or what relevant questions should I ask?

You need to have this track properly registered and copyirighted before you sign anything.
Sure it may be enough if its only registered with your PRS,though send a copyright today,virtually,before you sign,as it counts from the day you sent the song to their vault.

 

I had copyrighted the track few years back so that's sorted out
