    Hi guys,
i m new to this forum and this is my first thread.
I m curious about this section of music .https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1oAHFVWT4h0UkdTdlZmU0lCSWc/view?usp=sharing

i want to produce this exactly or quiet similar violin ensembles peice but dont know how.
i tried adjusting pitch but didint work.

Can anyone suggest me what articulation are going on or how to create it?
Or i need real violin players instead of sample libraries? i m using EWQL Platinum oechetsra(kompakt),Cine string core, cinematic strings 2,friedlander violin, session strings pro,8dio violin.
    Any refrence will be helpfull.

    Thanks to listen me.

If I'm not mistaken I think I hear sordinas in the violin... doesn't sound as a big ensemble, maybe 8 violins at max, but I think it is around 4. The room it is recorded sound pretty small to my ears, and the violins sounds really harsh as if they were recorded really close. So my bet would go with a harsh sounding violin string pack; as is AudioBro LA Scoring Strings. All the articulations needed for those pieces are there (legato, glissando, maybe staccato). Then run in throu a small or medium room reverb and take it from there. The articulations are mostly regular runs but there is no need to get a specific plugin for that. Everything else is in how you treat the midi (note dynamics, modwheel if it uses for the expression)

I would go for LASS too for string ensemble, legato or sustain articulations. Maybe you have to adjust legato speed so it can sound right with those fast passages, but I would certainly try simple sustain also (same patch, but you turn off the legato). For reverb I would go for Altiverb (different IRs bring different colors, it's just great, but you have to mess with the settings, tail, direct signal, ERs, etc...) and Phoenixverb...or Lex PCM plates, you should experiment with different verbs. Waves S1 for scooping the stereo image, maybe some EQ, compr, etc... But yea, big thing is in midi editing.

    Cheers!

Agree, though some of the parts i`ve heard will be so hard if not impossible to recreate because of the limitations in patches/libraries(not midi).
Real playing has so much more dynamics, from subtle to obvious, hence why many scores after they are recorded with digital libraries get re-done in a real environment with real musicians.

Yea, I forgot to mention that so totally agree on this. But with careful tailoring (a LOT of work) I believe you can get acceptable result.

    thank you guys for reply....!

    thanks twinbrother,
it sounds like small room due to i compressed video for uploading
i m new to midi orchestration.i found this piece very hard to re-create . yes it sounds like run but i tried all possible articulations but i even cant match to its 10%. i think it demand real violinist.....

thnkn twinbrother for reply and suggetions...

    hi shomcya,
i tried all what you guys suggested.but my only scale of music and first note is perfectly matches when i try to play. after that i dont know what happens. midi & articulations sounds like it but doesnt match even its 25%..

i think it is done in real environment with real players...

thanks shomyca for suggestions and reply...

    hi von_steyr, i agree you..

hi nikon, i dont know it is proccesed or not.

I would go for LASS too. But the example contains very different timbres and articulations. I do not believe that the example contains amplified violins (maybe in some parts, just one or two instruments, as in case of the leader of violin section, I don't know). I think they were recorded as dry and very closely as possible, and this warm effect is achieved in the mixing. In addition to the use of mutes, it is worth remembering that some sections of this music have some ethnic flavor, something that reminds me of southern Europe Music. I'm talking about style and maybe microtonality (cultural inflections) plus minor flaws in tunning (from human performance) making the sound of the violin section sounds naturally fattened.

In short: dry and close recording (resulting in maybe some kind of southern Europe mixing pattern) plus cultural inflections in performance (in a few brief moments) plus sound reinforcement resulting from the physics of sound.

Well those are live recordings, that's for sure. But I am pretty sure you can get close with LASS, but, as I said, a LOT of careful midi editing is needed, dynamic and expression automataions (velocity too, for legato patches). You probably wont succeed in fooling good listeneres that your version are live strings, but it can sound decent. Just keep working on it

hi minok, you are right. these're violin piece of 20 yr old Indian songs. now a days this style is very less used. but i like it so i tried to re-create it but i never thought it would be so hard to achieve 20 yr old stuff.

All in all, AudioBro LASS or better NI String ensembles (audiobro too) do this job without problems with legato patches, this fast passages.
For runs, you can use Cinesamples string runs.
    I just try for fun:
    - runs (work great without tweaking)
    - ni strings (just tweak release and slur sliders and use only close mic without reverb etc...)
-> master fx: transient fx + audiothing vinylstrip (with some tweaking)

and you can simulate exactly the same (similar) sound feeling of those strings from song (harshness etc...)

If you're aiming for a similar sound, consider checking out violins for sale to for use with sampling.
