Error:Medium type not supported or invalid medium

    Hello guys . I am trying to import wav files in to cubase 5 and i received this message.does anyone knows how to fix that? The bitrate of the files are 24 bit and 96000khz

    try converting the file, probably cubase doesn't support 96khz, you wont need it anyway, 48khz is more than enough.

    Thanks cubase supports 24bit 96000khz thow l worked in the past. Maybe because the files are too big 5gb each. I dont know, convertion is not a solution because the client dont want that.

    I was going to suggest checking the project settings. But I'm fairly certain that is what your problem is. Cubase 5 is only 32 bit and 32 bit programs can only handle 4gb of ram, from what i understand. So if 1 file is already 5gb's you can see the problem. Try cutting the files into smaller pieces.

    Any suggetion about a program to cut the files in to pieces with out change the bitrate?

    An simple editor such as Audacity (which is free) can be used to split files.
    I have this "file type" error sometimes because of the encoding of the file (big-endian vs. little-endian) or some other bug; encoding accordingly helps.
    Pardon my asking, but isn't "24/96" kinda overkill?
