This might be a stupid question, but I want this signature pitch up/down effect type disco violin sound. I first heard it when I was like 8, and played Rayman 3:

    at 6:25

I then heard it in an old Skrillex track called "Cat Rats"

    at 0:38

If anyone can tell me a specific name for this type of sound, and or where I can get me some samples for this particular sounding disco violin style (If it even is a violin) haha :)

    Hey :)

You can get that sound in the Big Fish Audio Vintage Strings Kontakt Library. You can find it in other libraries too but I can't remember the name. It's called something like : Violin Falls or something.

P.S : I would not buy a whole kontakt library just for this articulation though, I'm pretty sure you can figure something else out.

    Peace

Yes it is recordings of live strings. If you have Kontakt 5 look for Session Strings it have those glissando string articulation

That signature disco violin sound you're after is often created using a technique called "glissando" or "portamento." To find samples or presets for this sound, search for terms like "disco violin" or "funky violin" in music production software or online sample libraries.
