What is the law / restrictions here.? Lets take an example.. Flo Ridas whack new song called "My house" it is almost identical in chord and melody to Kalin & Miles "Trampoline.. And both songs are derived from "Lean on me"

Does anyone have to pay for using this or what way does it work? anyone know?

 

Depends on the label/artist.....IF they want to bring about a suit they can and most likely will.But a lot of times if a track is interpolated,the correct way,the producer doesn't have to worry about it.

The rightsholders involved are author and publlisher of the original composition, and the owner of the recording itself, though sometimes also the recordiing artist.

 

Thanks so I heard that if you completely recreate it, like a cover almost you dont need permission. But you do if you use maybe a bassline or something from it..
