It's early in the morning for so don't tell me off for getting something slightly wrong.

Bandwidth is the number of frequencies you can receive at any given time. some internet providers define it as speed of data but it isn't really speed.

Phone line connection to the internet is the smallest band width. As computers only use to have 1 processor, they do the same as the single processor. They keep changeing between which signal they are sending,
ie load picture 1
load music
load text
load picture 2
load picture 1
load music
load text
load picture 2
load picture 1
ect till they are all done


As statlite and cable are able to send more then just single series of pulese, and send a set of frequencies.
Example
load picture 1, load music, text and picture 2
( it'll do the same patter as the phone line if you send for maore than what your bandwidth can do)
till all 4 are done

Since they send for more than 1 data stream at a time they are able to recieve more data per second. This is why we started calling fast internet broadband, as the larger bandwidth use to result in fater connection.


Now a fast computer at the phone directory can make the phone line single signal achive speeds similar the the older cable and satilite equipment.
this has ment BT (a phone company) can give what they call broadband, which is really just a fast narrowband internet connection.

Satilite is larger bandwidth than phone lines. Cable connection is larger bandwidth than satilite.


The bandwidth no longer matters, unless someones going to try and clogg it up with junk data feeds. Your internet speed now is depended on the equipment your survice provider uses.
