Hey!

I haven't posted here in a while, been pretty busy working on music (which is a good thing)!

Anyway, I just entered a remix competition hosted by Beatport for Skylar Spence's new track, "I Can't Be Your Superman". I gave it a french house twist (especially the last drop), and would love to know what you guys think of it.

I assume a lot of you know how Beatport remix competitions work.

To be perfectly honest,i hate this type of music but this track is insanely nice.

I gave it a quick listen on my iPad, so my opinion may not serve you that well, but at first I thought that the synth flute, the lick of the song, was mix a bit too high, but it really seems to me that the main vocals are subdued. For the tiny speakers I listened to it on, the vocals didn't cut enough. I bet on proper speakers it sounds better balanced. The mix sounds otherwise solid. Fine job.

 

Thanks for the feedback! I can see why you say the lead sounds loud at times, listening to it again I can tell I should've bumped it a down a bit. I probably should've bumped up the vocal a bit at times as well. Oh well, that's what happens when you try to mix something all in one day. Lesson learned.

Keep it up, maybe your kicks need more work and drums can have a more interesting groove, but the composition is pretty well done.
