yeah right? but i'll never go back to winblows...im still on SL 10.6.8. I bought lion, have it on disc but because PT9 doesnt work on it, i never installed it.

So true! Apple is a part of the US capitalist system so they try to force people to be up to date and buy always new MACs.
I really don't like what they're doing. OK i understand that they want to move on with the research and development, but a new OS
every 5 years would be enough.....and better!

They just suck out the money of their (mostly)blind following customers,
by updating the OS and forcing you to buy the latest software to be compatible with it.

Say what you will -- Apple has continued to improve upon their products (for the most part)
While I agree that it's hard to keep up at times, I dig that they are pushing the envelope.
Cloud OS is building steam, and Quantum computing will change the world -- As technology improves
and prices drop - the future is looking bright -- I mean, Look at the price and size of drive space;
10 years ago a 100GB HD would have cost you a pretty penny, today the same money could catch you
a 3TB network drive -- and (when cost effective) Solid State Drives will soon replace all conventional
disc drives (the end of disc errors), and Apple's 'Lightning Bolt' I/O is amazing -- I just bought 16GB
of RAM for my iMac for $80 USD -- 16GB a couple years ago would hit you for over 1000. Things are going
to change -- it's inevitable -- yeah it sucks sometimes being behind the curve, but you have to look beyond

I'm content with the shit I have now -- I have Lion, but can't see installing it if I might lose functionality
of one of my key components -- so I'm not going to risk it at the moment -- No need. (and I'm cool with that)
Sure, I'd like to check Lion out -- but can live without it as well.

But -- let's be real here -- the honest complaint is that you have to wait for the 'Teams' to update your
cracked goods so that it's 'Lion-Ready' -- and things are moving slow -- Am I right ? And now Apple announces
the coming of a New OS ... So you're all kind of buggered.

Well, Another option (to avoid all the bullshit), is to simply go out and purchase the software legitimately --
At least this way, you get fully working shit direct from the horse, fully updated (if and when software update
is required for the OS upgrade).

Seriously -- so many complaints -- I just don't get it. How many actually purchased their copy of Lion here anyway ?
Lion was likely obtained the same way that 80-95% of your Audio softs were obtained --- 'try before you buy' -- pfft yeah right !

I will say this -- I 'll bet most of the people that complain about their Apple products, platform, etc -- were likely
previous PC owners, or just spoiled rotten kids (used to having free access to everything) -- Cause anyone that's owned a
Mac for any length of time knows that there just isn't the same level of freely attainable shit out there as there is for
the PC -- never has been. Things have gradually changed over the years -- and these days it's the best it's ever been for
us Mac users (when it comes to getting fee shit) -- the increase is attributed to 'Team' members switching to the Mac when
Apple made the switch to Intel architecture -- Anyway, I got nothing but love for y'all -- No disrespect intended

So not true (man I hope not !) -- Perhaps for the shallow (yes)
Who buys shit just because everyone else does ? Makes no sense.
I'm sure there are tons of them out there -- (I have seen my share of reality shows)
But most of us in the real world (I would like to think) make informed decisions
regarding our purchases -- not just to keep up with the Joneses -- so to speak

I've owned a Mac for decades -- when it was -- 'unpopular' !
I didn't buy it because anyone else did -- I bought it, because
I liked how it worked, looked and felt. User friendly, Plug and Play,
and Virus Free.

Regarding the 'Other' apple products:

iPod --- Groundbreaking and first of it's kind
(I often hear people refer to non-Apple mp3 players as 'iPods' -- similar to bandages being referred to as Band-Aids or tissues as Kleenex)

iPhone --- Groundbreaking and first of it's kind
Come on -- seriously -- a touchscreen Phone, Internet, Apps, Video, Camera, Facetime ?

iPad --- Groundbreaking and first of it's kind (sure -- tablet PC came first -- but really, no comparison)
iPad is perfect for school -- all Texts, Resource material, Internet, and 'Blackboard' (virtual classroom) -- in the size of a standard Composition notebook


I'd like to think that people aren't buying to boost personal status, and that it's because they made an educated/informed decision.
I seriously hope they are not doing it because 'so-and-so' has one ...

Hi Guys, nice you're talking about that ...

Two weeks ago a friend of mine asked me if it was worth to update to Lion. He's a composser
that uses ONLY Finale to write music, no DAWs, no Plugins, even not Garritan, and Finale he
uses is "Finale 2010". So i told him "With Lion you could have some compatibility problems"
but while i was writing the mail for him he told me in another mail that he had already
updated to Lion. To which i answered him back with "Do you see? ... We are well-trained
people that perform quite well what we've been taught by great corporations. After all,
if your apps worked well with OS 10.6.8 why the need to update ?".

The only answer i've got back from him was merely "Finally it's in my mother language (catalan)
and it seems it goes a little bit faster", nothing more, nothing less!.

What i mean is ... we have plenty of things downloaded from here and there that work quite
well with Snow Leopard 10.6.8, most of them still to be checked/worked fully with ... But of
course we all want to have the latest things/versions otherwise WE ARE NOTHING ... or at least
"they" made us to believe that.

And the question is: Should we not complain to ourselves and not acuse the corporations for the things we do ?!
After all there's nobody pointing at us gun in hand telling "YOU'RE GOING TO USE THIS OTHERWISE I WILL KILL YOU!".

Today is the new OS (Mountain Lion), tomorrow will be the new Computer with and appealing Touch Screen ...
But i see, all of us are rich people who don't know what to do with our money, isn't it ?!
Is for that that some of you waste his/her money buying things you'll never use ?!
C'mon people! ... Is that we've forgotten what means to be intelligent ?! What do we've made to our own intelligence ?
Isn't new technologies like the "bread and circus" of ancient Romans ?! ... How ignorants we are!!!

BTW, one last question to those who have Lion: Of about the 200+ new features it has, how many do you use in fact ?!
