Usually the procedure would be to drop the vsti on one pad, drop as many external instruments on the other pads as you need, route the external instrument to heartbeat and set the "recieve" and "play" (activate the i-o view) according to the midi mapping of heartbeat (it's usually the general midi percussion key map, google it).

You mean that you do not have the option send midi to drumrack in the exteral instrument chain?

Try putting Heartbeat on (e.g) C1 in drumracks. Then put an external instrument on C#1, D#1, etc.

i haven't got heartbeat but i did it with microtonic so i'll try my best to help:

-put your heartbeat on C1 on a drum rack.

-set each module in heartbeat to have their own output (eg bd1 output 1, kick output 2, etc) i'm not sure how its done but i know you can do it within heatbeat

-on C#1 to G1 in the drum make 7 external instruments

-in your drum rack make sure device chain list is set to show (button on the very left of the rack)

-Chain 1 needs to be set to receive and play midi no C1, chain 8 needs to set to receive and play midi note G1 (and all chains in between set appropriately too)

-on your first external instrument (on chain 2) in the "MIDI To" section, top box needs to be drum rack , and the 2nd box set to heartbeat's second midi input. then in the "Audio From" section set it to Heartbeats 2nd audio output.
repeat this appropriately for the remaining 6 external instruments

-remember to set choke groups for the perc and hats/cymbals if you want to

-and more importantly save your rack as a preset

What you actually need is called a "pacemaker", not Ableton Drum Racks, virtual things are all fun and games until your heart stops for real.

still cant see heartbeat from midi to option in external instrument i just need to put some midi fx and any other kind of fx in every sound of heartbeat

 

i have no idea what he is saying in these videos but what he is doing looks pretty awesome (and could be helpful to you)

 

tried this as well too but it seems like its just for parameters automation and stuff no matter what i do midi fx wont work e.g. drum rack -> external instrument -> arp
i tried on simpler/instrument rack too but failed really.
if someone who have heartbeat and ableton can test will really really be a big help thanks!
