I should point out, that after I bought a 2 octave keyboard, I regretted it big time afterwards.

I would go for a bigger keyboard an a Behringer bfc or something

While I'm generally a minimalist, I think I'd rather keep my keyboard and pads separate. That M-Audio beast looks great but doing so much on one keyboard is likely to come with some compromises in order to be priced competitively.

So who makes the realistic-feeling keyboard? I'd like to learn piano on one.

Sorry, I'll let you have your thread back after this :)

I strongly recommend That you DO NOT have anything to do with Novation kit, I made the mistake of purchasing a launchkey and it is cheaply constructed, a lot of the time midi will jam up, I think it is filling buffers somewhere or the usb connection simply doesn't work so I need to restart the DAW to get the damn thing to work. Truly awful. I you look at some of the reviews on you tube, they will bear me out, there are quite a few disappointed buyers. I reverted to using my old M1 as a midi controller. never skips a beat.

That ROLI Seaboard rise looks super nice, but only 25 keys. :(
I also wonder how it behaves with other midi synths (eg the continuous pitch function) rather than the included software?

I've used other Novation gear and I've been pleasantly surprised (whereas I've been very disappointed with M-Audio gear), perhaps it is just the Launchkey range (or the Automap software - which you don't have to use!) which is a problem?

I have a 25, 37, 49 and 88 key. I use the 25 (Xkey) the most cos it's so small and portable. I'd get a big 'un and a little 'un
