how to get this guitar sound?

    hey guys



    at 0:28 it starts. this lovely new wave 80s pop guitar sound.
    while im here if anyone could also tell me what instrument is playing at 0:49 that would be sick! like some wooden xylophone sounding thing

    sounds like whatever the mallet instrument was in toto's Africa... maybe it even was ripped off from that.. :yes:

    The only real guitar I hear is a clear strato in a cool & the gang mood a little bit later panned half-left. All others are synth mallet type sounds, maybe blended with a guitar synth sound. It could be a DX-7 as @Baxter suggested

    These sound like samples cut in there. I'm hearing xylo's as well.
