hello all i hope your having a great day

i was working on this one song of mine, and i wanted to record some vocals with the original pres of my saffire 56 since i almost always use external pre amp but maan this unit is great except for gain i have to crank it all the way to 9 to get a usable level and i can tell you thats not the sweet spot when you get a cranked up vocal
anyone ran into this before ? i saw alot of people online having the same issue but no one seemed to have it solved in any way
any helpful comment would be welcomed

  3. It sounds to me as if you are recording with a dynamic microphone or a ribbon. A condenser should have enough (it is a mystery to me of much gain there actually is on the 56 as it seems to be a big secret in every review, but I will guess 60db with about 52 usable, most coming fast and furious at the end of the knob rotation). If you are using a dynamic or a ribbon I suggest using a Fethed or Cloudlifter to give you 20db more gain. You could also makeup any gain inside your DAW with a channel emulation.

  5. Is there a pad engaged on the channel or the NT1? Is it the same on a different channel?

I have a liquid saffire 56 pro and I never noticed this. Although it has been awhile since I recorded vocals. I would double check no pad is engaged.

I almost have the opposite problem with recording guitar direct into the saffire. I have to turn the gain all the way down and engage the pad on the channel. It is very hot and I'm not sure why... maybe that is just the way it is.

Let us know if you figure it out.
