    sometimes but not in general
    depends on the coding.

You should notice a difference yes, but you need to have enough RAM to take advantage of.

The greatest advantage of a 64 bit OS is the vastly increased virtual address space. In 32 bit Windows all processes have a private 2GB virtual address space. This is totally independent of RAM size. In 64 bit Windows, when running native 64 bit applications, this address space increases to 8192GB, totally independent of RAM size. For applications such as audio and video editing, this is a MAJOR advantage, even if you have only 4GB RAM.

If, however, you only have 2 GB of RAM available, you would probably see no difference at all. Obviously this is about processing speed and has nothing whatsoever to do with audio quality.

And ArticStorm is dead on - it all depends on the coding. And it's cumulative - in other words, every little bit helps when dealing with very large files.

The usuals apply about architecture: If you want to use 32bit plugins (most plugs are 32bit) on a 64bit DAW, you'll need a plugin bridge or a DAW that does bridging for you.

The audition devs decided to rewrite their DAW in 32bit as opposed to 64bit because the performance increase wouldn't be worth the extra development time (note: Audition 4 doesn't do VSTi)

64bit doesn't necessarily mean a large speed increase, though it may help some if you have huge sample libraries.

A X64 OS can take up to 128G of ram if you have the hardware *yes*
