Can anyone suggest some good headphones for mixing?

I had Scarlett 18i6 with 300 ohm headphones, there was no problem. I think 2i2 have same preamps.
Now I have NI audio dj2 and MOTU 16track. Both work well and loud.

Go ask a proffessional ME how many proffessional artist records they've mixed, or mastered through headphones. lol. The question posed in the op is like a child asking "which baseball hat should I wear to hit homeruns like Babe Ruth?" Why even waste time mixing in headphones? Because that's essientially all it is, a waste of time.

Heaphones should only be used as a reference to your mix. If you're doing any panning, dynamics, reverb, eq etc.. through headphones you're failing.

I'd bet dollars to donuts he uses them as a reference, and switches back to his monitors to make any corrections to get the music to sound good through the headphones. I doubt he's doing any dynamics, eq, effects or stereo widening in headphones. It's just illogical.

Any price above €500 for headphone amp is pointless.
There's just one objective amp worth getting - Objective2
For €40 barebones or €120 assembled.

@solo83 - Why "you're failing"? Headphones can provide much more accurate stereo field than speakers in the same price ratio.

Because objective, measurable performance can be achieved using regular components and modest price.
€500 amp likely provides no audible advantage over €120 Objective2, because even O2 figures lies far above and below hearing threshold.
Together with ODAC was proven in blind test to be indistinguishable from Benchmark DAC1 worth €1499

what do you use yourself Jayzuz mofo ? .. since you're here to "enlighten" us ...

I feel like whatever price you pay is not bad if you consider the quality, and having tried Beyers already ,
I'm confident they are fairly priced, and can be found in a good range. If you want it cheap enough, they
can be found used. Thanks to all who confirmed on the DT-880's here,
and it's all over the net reviews as a nice set of cans.

Now if I could just get my hands on a set of nice "cans" for the weekend... I'd be all set

All beyers are peaking in 9kHz range and are very fatiguing to listen to. I had DT880 myself, and couldn't stand them more than 5 minutes.

then what phones are non-fatiguing, and why .. ?

awesome O2 articles by the way...

I'm very happy with AKG K240DF, but 90% of people wouldn't be. Bass is rolled of (therefore unusable for EDM) and they need quite a lot of power. For me, not really, because I always listen at low volumes, but generally 105dB peak is considered appropriate for listening, for that 4.1V RMS is required, and entry level audio interface can manage maximum 2V RMS.
DFs are as flat as a ruler, but to date no-one has measured them, maybe because they're 10 years out of production.
After 1 year of almost daily usage, they don't cease to surprise me.
Worthy mention is K601, which in terms of transient reproduction is closest to K240. However most people hate K601 for it's no-early-reflections approach. I love them for it.
But my choices are meant for those working with dynamic, acoustic genres. No doubt Trance or EDM will sound horrible on either cans.

@JST That phrase gets old real quick. $300 for a headphone is still okay in my book. But $1000+ for a headphone, you're surely paying more for "boutique" status than the product itself.

    Notice I said Style.

    What I Currently Use is:
    http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/SR850
    They are Great.

I also have a couple pair of these:
    http://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audio/yamaha-rh10ms-s-logic-surround-sound-studio-headphones

They are too uncomfortable with glasses, and they were too expensive @ $100 a pop on sale.

If I didn't wear glasses I would be happpy with these:

    http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/HPX2000
There are loads of under $100 cans available that are great.

I don't mix in Headphones, but of course you can.

I am reliant on a Sub-woofer for my low end. I don't listen to music with headphones. I sometimes monitor with them when I'm tracking, or for reference. Damn they sound good, but of course that can become an issue in translation, if you're mixing or mastering.

We know the truth. We don't believe them.
