I agree that they provide good things. but that does not mean that those things would not be here without r2r
chances are that those people would have occupied the same 'hobby' if r2r as a group never existed.

I'm not saying the guys behind r2r are bad guys in any sense, but from a leechers perspective a more competitive environment is desired.
r2r just slipped away in a natural monopoly. that isn't their fault, but it is there...

everything is a little unbalanced at this point but still fine now,
until they start attracting all new tech heads or working side by side a little to 'intensive'.

the best what could happen at this point from my point of view is some new competition,
I think there is enough evidence that there are enough skilled people around.

only thing that is missing at this point, is some praise and appreciation for folks that try and sometimes fail miserably
which is not determinative by the way and surely is only from our perspective.

in my own opinion i cant thank sunny enough for all the goodies hes uploaded on Audioz over the years, i know he broke some "rules" but in reality he did to r2r what r2r have been doing to the developers for years. i think its easy to jump on the moral bandwagon but no one was boycotting his downloads and if he released the popular uncracked plugs that are about at present we would all be there downloading them whether r2r wanted us to or not.

Hmmm... that's bound to cause a little controversy. And while I love R2R, and owe them so much gratitude, I see where you're coming from. That is the way I thought about it too before I started using warez. Distributing copyrighted works for free and then complaining when someone steals their keygen or leaks their releases. I see it a little differently now. Teams like R2R are the balancing force in the market by helping consumers make educated decisions and freeing them of the limitations inherent in DRM. Especially the recent iLok crack, that's a huge one in this regard. They also provide massive opportunities for people who live in countries where currency is worth nothing. Why should the same product cost one person maybe 2 hours sitting in an office, while others who toil for 12 hours a day in some shitty factory or mine can't pay for it even if they saved everything they earned for months? They are a very important factor in this crooked economy, one that keeps developers on their toes adapting to the evolving market, and lessens the gap between the rich and the poor. That's why I think they should be respected... when they say something shouldn't be released, chances are they know best and any leaks will do more harm than good.

For that matter, I can't comprehend what was going through Sunny's mind when he decided to leak those releases. What made him risk getting kicked from R2R's topsite? Was it a desperate cash grab? Recklessness? Revenge? It just doesn't make any sense to me, seems incredibly short-sighted.

In 30 years of warez Ive never seen a group hold back because they did not want the Dev to change protection.
They just released to get it out first. I agree with Kwissbeats on this one, R2R needs competition.

All the eggs in one basket is not a good thing.

I've personally boycotted him for so long (and asked many times others to do the same) because I never liked his way of doing things: complete re-uploads of GB releases instead of a little MB fix or update ; constant drama with fair uploaders (like Horsemen) ; little or no support in case of issues with a release (sample missing, etc.) ; total unfair behavior...

And if he had been the one who had supplied the recent top releases, then I would have done as usual: torrents or other places (not M.G.SY of course), because I despise "mirrorers" even more. So simple.
Well, if he had been "long-sighted", I guess he would have found a more respectable and less risky way to make a living...
More seriously, from what I've understood (read again the OP), the idiot gave those "internals" to other idiots (Awake,...), who doesn't have access to the HTP, with orders to keep them for themselves. The rest is (sad) history.
I agree with you except for the last part: "R2R needs competition". Who knows if they aren't more a group of "bedroom producers" or "audio geeks" who really use their cracks instead of being just crackers? If it's the case, their politic is then perfectly understandable, and a new competitor may be welcome to provide them fresh material but not for motivation.

How do you know m.g.s.y is run by Sunny? I'm curious because I used to visit that site quite often before I discovered AZ. The grass is definitely greener on this side

i think if sunny released nexus or cubase 8.5 etc tomorrow im pretty sure not many would boycott the download because it was sunny that uploaded them. just my 2 cents.

I think there is too much informations in this thread.
I suggest locking it, before someone gets really hurt.

We got the message "sunny is a dick" , but all the rest should be kept "internal"
