    Hi guys,

I'm new to Logic X, and Mac in general, however I have some experience with ableton on windows.

    Anyways,

Most of my work is done with kontakt orchestral sampling. I added a new track (5 tracks total) and recorded some midi notes and when I played it back it glitches, cracked, and the audio stopped all together. I'm using a Mac Book Pro 13' with Retina Display and a Scarlett 2i2 Audio Interface.

    Anyone know why?

Asio?? not in mac environment... check load meters and maybe activity monitor and try to raise the buffer.. but you should be more specific about your Logic project

Usb cable is a big probability

The one supplied is shit. I have a 6i6 and mine was dropping constantly. I went thru my storage and tried about 5 cables until i found one that had higher throughput.
I havent glitched dropped or hiccuped in months now. Usb cables are not created equal, there are differences.

My eleven rack sounded like crap when i bought it off ebay. I replaced with a high quality cable and now i love it.

I was under the impression that if it was cable connected it was good, just 1's and 0's right? I know now there is a bandwidth requirement.

Not sure if this is your issue but it sounds like it.

I restarted logic and reconnected the 2i2. I had it connected to a usb 3.0 hub that also held my wireless mouse and Novation Launchkey, I unplugged the mouse and it seems to be working now, so maybe it was the cable!

Any recommendations on buffer size / sample rate?

Is that macbook pro usb 2 or 3??
Scarlett series does not like usb 3.0 but there are beta drivers that i think support it now.

Since you on a laptop and having issues go 44k
Should be able to handle 3ms in the settings.

one note. Hubs and audio interfaces dont mix.
Thats a big problem. The hubs usually have a crappy power supplys and the bandwidth is split up amongst devices.

Google is your friend on issues like these.
    Wish you the best.

Ive been good by helping someone out. Now i can be bad the rest of the week.

@Voo Its a usb 3.0, @angie , the new project has nothing but this one track with lumina, my options setting are below.

Anyways I thought I had fixed the problem by unplugging everything and plugging it back in, but it always Lumina for some reason.

I started a new project with only lumina to see if it had completely taken care of it, and while its not dropping like before, its still cracking and glitching and its driving me batshit.

CPU isn't anywhere near peaking, it only used 100mb of my 8gbs of ram, Disk isn't peaking either.
    Levels aren't even near -10!

I unplugged my scarlett just to see if it was that however it made the same popping sounds coming through the computers speakers as well.

I know its not a corrupted sample file because its seemingly completely random, I can play the same thing over and over again and it won't pop every time.

    My Audio settings are:
    Core Audio: Enabled
    Output Device: Scarlett 2i2
    Input Device: Scarlett 2i2
I/O Buffer Size: 256 (was recently 128 but changed it to see if it would help)

(Resulting latency: 29.9ms roundtrip (24.1 ms output)

    Processing Threads: Automatic
    Process Buffer Range: Medium
    ReWire Behavior: Off

I'd appreciate any insight on the problem. Thanks again!

Well I guess you have a different problem then, new cable and not plugging into usb 2.0 fixed mine.
Also I am running a new Beta driver. Once I got mine running correctly I decided not to change anything lol

One other clue I have is I remember when mine was messing up, One track low volume it would not glitch or drop out. It would stay connected for a day.

2-3 tracks the glitches started and soon after maybe 30 min of messing around the interface would drop connection.

I hope you get it going, I'm just sharing my experience with the thing.

Hi Haydnberg I don't understand the reported latency... it seems too large.. with your settings my latency is 12.8 ms (6.5 output) with built in sound card
