I've found used Roland A-30 Master keyboard on the internet for about 200$..
Has anyone ever encountered such keyboard?
Is it worth buying for such price?
    I new YAMAHA NP30 better?

    Best regards,
    Luke

really don't understand the use of these keyboards these days... unless you playing live often.
otherwise midi-keys and laptop will give you much more possibilities, even live.

    Yeah, I have Akai LPK25..
However, I think I need a bigger keyboard..
LPK is too small for me.. I'd like not changing octaves while playing..
Moreover, I love piano feel e.g. weighted or semi-weighted keys :)

I have one of these. It is 76 keys and IS a midi controller. The feel is not bad.

I would consider $200 a little heavy given the age of this keyboard.

which model of Fatar would you recommend?
or maybe which keyboard would have the best price/quality ratio (must have 5-7 octaves and weighted/semi-weighted keys)?

I agree. I used to have one of these... sold it many year ago for around $80-100. There is newer and better master keys out there - lots of them for $200. Also, I would suggest getting something with hammer action - the A30, as I remember it, was the lightest "action" i've ever had on a "master Keyboard". I prefer heavy weight keys, to keep my fingers in training :)

If you can stretch your budget. There are many Kurzweil synths out there.

I own a Roland RD150. Wich has a proper 88 weighted keys. It feels like a proper piano. I compared it's keys and it holds up against any hefty Wing piano.

    BUT>>>>>>

I allso own a Korg KONTROL49. Now.... what does that bring to the table? Well. It has pads for drums and sliders and knobs for remote controlling any synth it sees. There is some setup time involved. But it all works and expands the things you can do with it. Play a synth then use the wheels to modulate. Have a damper attached, tab it and hear a ring go on and on and on. Have a hefty synth playing, use slides and knobs to tweak that 8 bar bassline and get that warble in and otherwise static bassline wich gives it a feeling of being alive.

All things being equal. Take a step back and look at what sequencer is being used the most. Then look at what midi keyboard with pads and sliders and knobs is best for that sequencer. Roland makes great units for Sonar. But are they right for Steinberge products? In that case I'd be looking at the new Yamaha products.

    All things being equal again.

You can grab a decent synthesizer with nice keys for 200 bucks (secondhand).
You can buy a new midi controller with all the knobs and sliders new. Like the AKAI stuff.

You can buy amazing little synths who do both for around 500 bucks. Like the NOVATION ULTRANOVA
Or the Roland GAIA. The Yamaha MM6 is another wonderfull solution.

The AKAI MPK49 is a great lil gadget wich has great extra's that come with it on cd/dvd.
The M-audio AXIOM is another great gadget especially if you use Protools.

Other offerings do not have big soft pads for drums. Something I was looking for when I bought mine. Mine aren't as soft and big as I'd like.
You want some sliders and some knobs for fiddling your softsynth to bring you a nice feel when playing one.
So, I'd say either the AKAI or M-audio AXIOM if you can live with the smaller keyboards. If you can't I'd still get either the AKAI or M-audio. Their value for speedy music creation is immens. At a later date I'd get a second keyboard secondhand. Something with reall keys, if that's your thing.

I've had the A-30 years ago, and although I usually like the keyboard action of Roland keyboards (e.g. the XP-80 keyboard is great!), the feeling of the A-30's keys was one of the worst my fingers ever touched.
Can't recommend it, and I'd never buy it again, not even for $20.
Also, it's a bit on the lame side regarding faders & dials, many later models are certainly better.
BTW, for $200 you might get an old but robust Casio VZ-1 which has a full aluminum case, 3(!) mod wheels and a great keyboard also. Plus you get FM synthesis as a free add-on :)

the difference is that Roland ordering their mechanics from Fatar :))))

but the quality of Fatar keys is freaking awesome, consequentially it cannot be cheap.
i bought my Fatar for about 1200$ back in days... and never regret it.

    here, choose for yourself:
    Code:
    http://www.fatar.com/studiologic/Pages/intro_cat.htm
    they all good.

if memory not fails me, SL series is quite old.. my acquaintance used to have one, he said that mechanics is good but heavy.

i'd say it doesn't matter which Fatar you're choosing, they all better than any other MiDi keyboard in the same price range.

if you picking a keys for life, i'd save for VMK series.

There aren't too many keyboards out there with piano emulating keys... Mine is now..... 5 years old and sometimes I see them go by in your pricerange. A RD300 or similar (Yamaha S90) are very nice masterkeyboards. Their keyboard feel surpasses many many others... and offer you many many other features as some great sounds. What's against that? Many many people spend good money just to find out it's not their thing. And they do not want their money back. They simply hope their device will serve others better. So.... spend lil money and gain alot...
