For me i listened to a mt eden dubstep song and loved it. Wanted to make it so people could feel how i felt. The started listen to new music such as Beethoven and movie soundtracks that sparked my passion even more. I now listen to most genres and feeling i get, i want to share with other people.

I pursued a carreer as a jazz pianist/composer since i was a child, but was brought down by the sense of it beeing an obsolete art form in the broad eye, so i just said "fuck it, i'll be an edm producer instead." and so i spent about 2 years in bed, smoking weed an learned all about production. haha.

Here is a list of funny sarcastic answers:

    i made poor life decisions...
i wanted to bang your mother...
    i like computer...
i thought it was so cool...
    i thought i was cool...
    i like sine wave...
    i like saw wave...
i wanted to be a saw wave bender...
    i like press note...
    i like moving clips..
    i think i know shit...

    Real answer:

I like learning new skills on the computer, and audio engineering was a great investment into knowledge, application and learning.

Also, I guess I'm an artistic/technical type of guy that appreciates and applies art and engineering :)

Songwriting, playing lots of instruments in various bands, sound engineering, sound design and mixing led me to be a "producer". I still don't consider myself the latter.
edit: I thought the question was "how". The question "why" is usually pretty obvious.

I grew up with access to about a thousand CDs that I loved from the 70s, 80s and 90s and and pretty much want to add to that legacy

I had an organ when I very small, kind of thing that worked with air, was playing TV theme songs by ear :) After that, I got a bigger one, which later changed to a cool Casio keyboard. I always admired film music and John Williams in particular. And game music, on the Commodore 64 :) Later, when I had got my first PC, I bought an ADLIB soundcard, it came with a program called "Band-in-a-box" which was very nice to play around with. Because of games, I managed to get a hold of a Roland MT-32 because I had heard it has the best music in games, and of course, it worked via MIDI, so I had to get a midi interface.

So then I started thinking, hm, this midi thing is pretty interesting, I wonder what else I can do with it.

A bit after that, I got a good Roland keyboard, Cakewalk Pro Audio 5 and as they say, the rest is history, going through various synth modules, XG was a big thing for while, and on to VST and Kontakt libraries. Interesting journey which is never really over.

The job description promised glamour, short hours, long holidays and an enormous salary in the aural industry.
Years later, I realised that it was an unfortunate misprint in a recruitment campaign for trainee dentists.

    Bummer. :(

Am I into Music Production? Why nobody told me?

Actually I've always been more a musician than a producer since I seem to lack the broader perspective a producer needs to make good songs, and i never know where to stop arranging a song, so I became a session guitarist... That way at least I get paid for my incapabilities :guitarhero::hahaha:

Basically i consider myself rather as a *Composer*, even if i don't know much about music theory & notation! :hillbilly::hahaha:
I'm coming from the older generation of hardware Synth users so the new digital Era opened new doors to me...
...before i recorded everything on a 4-Track tape machine recorder, limited to only 4 mono tracks.
With the new goodies it's much more easier to record many tracks but the downside is the lack of *manual work*
with faders, knobs, potis etc... but the main inspiration to compose & share music hasn't changed.

Music production, big words. I started out by being unable to find people to do the music I wanted to do at the time, so I powered up my PC with Cakewalk Pro Audio and started sequencing in midi. My computer couldn't handle audio back in '99 And my biggest dream was to buy a Soundblaster Audigy card, which never happened. Years later, in '07 a band I had wanted to produce an album of original tunes. After running the estimates I realized I could invest in some audio equipment and do it myself. Big mistake. The album never saw the light of day, and the band got burned after my failed attempts at producing. The band quit but I got hooked on audio production.

For me it was just a natural progression from starting as a musician, started learning to play saxophone at age 8 then picked up keys, guitar and drums in high school.

Learning music production & audio sound mixing/engineering was just the next logical step, that and I don't like depending on other people....I know how I want thing's to sound and don't need someone else injecting their opinions into my creative space, I love sound and the manipulation of sound and try to learn as much as I can.

It has been a fun, rewarding & sometimes frustrating journey....but one I would never give up :speaker:

A Friend once made me listen to a song By Tiesto, and told me he did it all alone by him self, and i said what does this guy have that i don't, and from that day i'm fuc*in' up my brain to learn more and understand how music works, ended up being a producer/sound engineer...
