Yeah, I agree. Until now file sharing is winning the battle, but institutions are hitting hard in the last years. It's very hard to predict anything about the net.

My guessing is that without knowing how, it'd make sense to arrive at a point where file sharing will be too complex due to institutions measures for, say, 90% net users, meaning many users will be forced again to buy everything and without testing. The other 10%, the most advanced net users (many of us probably included) we will keep sharing but with more problems using complex methods/soft.

well, not everything is lost. at least now if we are sharp and lucky we can get get rid of our girlfriends with a couple of WApp messages lol

Peter Sunde has scammed a lot of people on Kickstarter (he took TONS of cash and ran away) by false promises for 1 or 2 years for the private secure messaging app called "HEMLIS".

I have monitored their Twitter account once in a while and read loads of complains about people keep asking the same question: WHEN will Hemlis be released?!?!?!
People where waiting for the app because they invested via Kickstarter, the only response to everyone was "it will be released when its done".

You're all inexplicably optimistic in my opinion. I've been on the net since it's beginning pretty much and (I don't claim any sort of wisdom but) my perception is that things seem to go downhill very quickly the last ten years. I think the battle was lost when people by the millions, rather billions, accepted to hand over their real life names, birthdates and addresses to Zuckerberg. It's not just the piracy, that in relative numbers is growing weaker every passing day, it's the whole attitude towards what's acceptable and what's not. It begun like a platform of total freedom of information and opinions, without most of the real life dangers such anarchy would have, and nowdays you get flagged for using your own song in soundcloud, you can do nothing about it and you accept it as if this was the norm. No I don't think things are the same anymore.

 

Discuss that matter with Your friends and resolve that "limited access" problem ... it will anyway not last for long

 

Anyone ever tried to get their email "back" from facebook? Good luck with that, because you'll have to sue them to delete your profile... they keep your email and data for-ever, I always find it laughable that someone sits there with his picture and full name waits for homies from the past to contact him.... while females are sitting there to get hit on, like 99% of them, and that's one of the reasons facebook was created, that's for females to sit and wait until someone hits on them regardless that some of them have husbands and kids... ask your wife to delete her facebook, see her reaction... listen to her reasons not to delete it...

Exactly, for most "it's just facebook", and they don't pay attention to reality and reality is that facebook has more data about some of them than a government... and a person can't do anything about how that data is handled, that's why I said, that the only why to get your data back would be through courts and the best chances are in EU, since American laws don't care about their citizens personal data...

 

I don't think keeping data forever is that "dangerous". What govs/private sector and powers that be are after is recent data & metadata, not what you did on FB 3 years ago, which you removed last year. It's of no relevance, unless something that could be used against you was posted by your name.
You can change name, address, country, status, job, friends, etc. and still be sorta untraceable. However their facial recognition is indeed scary - and can render your efforts meaningless - as even when you stayed out of FB and someone tagged you, it's official - you're in their database.

 

don't make the mistake of thinking that since hollywood is making movies that you personally don't like, they are making shit. they are making a product that appeals to large numbers of people. no offense, but the kind of movies that you think are the best would be very boring to most people that i know. different strokes for different folks. and so on and so on and scooby dooby dooby ooh sha sha we got to live together.
