What sorts of sounds you CAN'T make in sylenth1?

I just want to see which type sounds are only possible with other synths

    thank you

Wavescanning, heavily modulated sounds, etc. Sylenth has a very limited modulation matrix. So anything requiring more in-depth parameters is out of the question on sylenth. No wavetables, etc. Still a good synth for more basic sounds.

The modulation matrix and the amount of wavetypes it has is the biggest limitation, you cant reorder the matrix, the lfos are quite limited (even in free mode) the ADSR envelope behaves weirdly (especially the S & R), The inbuilt effects are quite limited. You can do very very basic FM and AM but its no where near precise as FM8 or Sytrus.

No growls (dubstep, drum'n'bass) - Massive & Serum like, no certain types of pads (omnisphere/alchemy type), no certain type of EDM leads (which nowdays involve a wavetable-capable synth). So pretty much there are things you can't do with it in every electronic music genre.

I heavily disagree with the ability to make pad sounds with sylenth, same with leads. Sylenth is capable of doing both of those easily although i agree to some degree that it is limited for bass growls out of the box, but this can be done with external vstis on top.

I said "certain types" on both cases. I can't see how you can make the pads in Omnisphere (the ones that are wavetable based) or the leads made in Massive (again, wavetable based).

so basically anything thats wavetable synthesis can't be done in sylenth1? keep the information coming thanks!

i think i seen a growl tutorial on youtube for sylenth1 once

@samsone: You have no idea about synths and synth types, I see. I don't know the reasoning behind your question -- when I tried to give actual advice to someone asking something similar, turned out to be that he was just asking for statystical purposes - so I will asume, once again, that you actually want to make music. If is about money, your best bang for the buck (a good allrounder to start with) is Serum: you can load any wavetable (the ones of Massive are floating around) and you also have the basic shapes used in virtual analog synths. If I were you, I'll learn and purchase Serum, not Sylenth1.

will look into serum...thanks, i think it will solve many of my own questions

as i said I was just looking to see what end result sounds can't be done in sylenth1...with examples if possible, but i know that would take lots of time for someone to do, will look again ur previous answers as i'm going through the synths

Well, it's a subtractive synth. So it can't do granular, wavetable, FM, vector, phase distortion, additive, etc.
That doesn't necessarily mean that Sylenth1 is limited. Maybe it's only the synthesizing knowledge that is limited.
