Okay guys, so we a are officially planning to have an Ambient Album that we want to get done and after getting a list of potentially interested people we would like members who are into ambient to join for this album.

Here are the details and rules:

1. Submission Deadline: The strict deadline for all submissions is February 26th 2016, ensuring plenty of time after the holiday break for those who are intersted to work on an ambient track and produce something with worthwhile quality.
   
   
2. Where to submit: Submitting is easy, just provide us with a soundcloud link under this thread with your finished product. You can also post in WIP's or a track for feedback, but eventually we want a finished product by the end of it all. Once the deadline arrives, everyone who has submitted a polished track will most likely be made to drop their tracks to either a dropbox or mega that we can organise. From there we collect the tracks and compile them to an album.
   
   
3. Must be newley made: No old track submissions, even though we can never know, just be honest and make something new. This is meant to be an excerise in skill and interest, not something to get attention and exposure from...because we don't really have valid exposure to be fair...
   
   
4. Output Format: You can submit your track in any way you want when displaying your track on here as a WIP or for feedback, but the final render needs to be submitted as mixes in 24 bit .wav @ 44.1kHz. Mixes need to be left with a maximum of -10dbfs headroom so we can master it. Anything above that will be difficult to work with so try to keep it under -3dbfs. We are still deciding on who will master, but it will most likely be me or @ned944, it just depends on the outcome of all of this.
   
   
5. Production Quality: There will be some level of quality control for this album. Of course, we aren't looking for something groundbreaking and unheard of(but if you can do that that's awesome and will earn much respect), but we do want decent and clean mixes. If you are a production and composition noob, this isn't an album for you.
   
   Usually we aren't too strict on submission quality but because this is a more specialised album, we (the organisers) are looking for something more specific and of a certain level of quality. If you have decent composition skills and can provide a good mix, we love to hear from you. If you are still new to this game, maybe the Audiosexed Album is better for you...
   
   
6. Production Length: Since this is ambient, anything under 12 minutes is fine. HOWEVER, if you are going to make a long track, make sure it varies and doesnt stay the same for 10 minutes straight with the same loop or else that's just manipulating the nature of ambient, thinking it has to just be a looped atmosphere when it is more than that. Tracks need to have dynamics and variation in the way it is composed...
   
   
7. Production Syle: This is an ambient album, so we're looking for something ambient with big atmospheres and a slow chill sound/soundscape. I know it can be a little confusing of exactly what constitutes ambient, but to help you out a little, look at the videos in this thread to give you an idea of the type of sound we are looking for:

   It doesn't matter if you have drums or not, just provide a chill feeling and a nice big atmosphere and you've got that sound. If you like ambient, you would know what sound to make
   
   
8. Digital Release: The album will just have a digital release, cuz that's good enough and CD release is just not worth it. IMO CD's aren't that interesting anyway so whatever...
   
   
9. Active Members Only: Yes, we just can't include random people we don't know. This place is a tight knit community here and we know each other pretty well. We only accept regular members here and not just random people who pop out of no where. Even if you are a long time lurker, we can only accept members who engage with the community. It's only fair to them. Even if you have a bomb ass smash hit track, it's just not fair to give priority over that track than an average track made from an active member, so we would accept the active members track over the better quality track from non active member...

Aaaaaand that's pretty much it for now, to sum up if you're tl:dr:

• Deadline February 26th 2016.
• Submit your track below this thread.
• All tracks need to be newely made not something you did before.
• Final track should be 24 bit .wav 44.1kHz mixdown
• Minimum of at least -10dbfs headroom.
  
• Production quality must be good. No noob production please.
• Tracks must be under 12 minutes.

Are you guys gonna be super strict on the -10dbfs rule? the track that im working on wildly ranges from like -12 to -2 and never hardcore brickwalls.

 

Not super strict, just make sure there is enough room for us to push it up. Just turn down everything in ur buss tracks down to -10dbfs and remove everything from the master and it'll be fine...

There will definitely be enough space to push the mix, so no worries.

 

Very good progress..and rules are well defined.

I appreciate efforts by organizers.

One suggestion (Organizers may ignore it.. If it is not useful): "Active member" may be a subjective term, IMHO. Can it be possible to mention specific number of posts or rating...whatever suitable... to consider a member as "Active"...?

This are just my two cents to avoid confusion to any new or less "active" member who may just come to be part of this interesting project.

Again, if it is not allowed to suggest more clarity in rules, parden me and ignore this post. Or let me know... I can delete this one from this thread too.

It will be great to have a deadline to work to as i tend to drift on and on with my compositions and not finishing half of the time!

 

This is going to be a wonderful project and everyone will have plenty of time to get their tracks done, so lets get to work and get some top notch work in this! Looking forward to hearing what you guys have to offer! their are a lot of talent composers and artists here!

Basically if you frequent here often and we've seen you post around, then you're an active member. We just don't accept lurkers that come from out of the blue and just decided to post just cuz an album came about...

Otherwise if you are a member here in whatever way, then we can consider your track regardless of post count... and we'll know who is active here or not because we're active ourselves, we know most of the people who hang out here...

 

Not my genre but I like the examples. I suppose that means I will love the album.

 

I would like to be part of it, but sadly there have been plan changes for the beginning of the New Year, so I won't be able to meet the deadline.

I really regret it, because I know that this type of projects help to push yourself a lot, but most importantly, the artists involved can teach you in a level that any tutorial can do, given the feeling of involvement and communal goal. Not to mention, it is always nice to listen your track mastered and integrated along other tracks.
