its a bug , look on Steiny forum a bunch a people are bitching about it and loads of other stuff, some are happy though

 

Yep I knew it. Cubase wins again on bugs, bugs and more bugs. Hey you just paid for more bugs. I knew I had another reason not to pay for this upgrade. Thanks for the info.

I couldn't install the update OFFLINE. Whether by starting the .exe, unraring the downloaded file and having the whole setup start, or by going to the install folder and launching the x64 .exe file, with or without administration rights,

I tried everything, but a few seconds after the main installer started, the installation would stop, with a window 'the app has crashed, close now, wait, etc' .

Then, I re-enabled my network card, and voila, the installation went flawlessly.

While online, I first installed via the x64 .exe file, but I had to launch the main install window, which scans the system to check what needs to be updated or installed...

Win8 64bit here.

Could some of you guys who purchased the 8.5 update try to install the update with your network access DISABLED, please?

'Local area network', disable.

I need to try it a few more times, and also do it on a different computer, also win8 64bit.
If this update requires an Internet connection, or some kind of enabled network, etc, TO INSTALL, without steinberg telling us so/why,

I swear I will make a video on YouTube and post it on every single audio forum I find.
Shit.

 

I'm sure that it was trying to update the eLicenser. 8.5 needs the new one and if it's not up to date it will search and install it......why so much Griping?!
