    Hello guys,
I want to buy Omnisphere 2 (it's Christmas!!). But Spectrasonic say that the authorization plug-in can only be done via internet. My pc music is not and never will be connected to the internet. Do you know if I really can not install Omnisphere offline?

I'm not sure. I find it hard to believe that there is no way to install off-line. If that really is the case, that's a bad move on Spectrasonics' end. I would contact their support and talk with them about it. If that really is the way it is, maybe ask them for an exception. If they can't do that, I would take my business elsewhere. That's just me though :) While Omnisphere is really good, it isn't the only good thing out there on the market.

    They said this to me:
"The instrument requires an internet connection for both installation and authorization. You may install the instrument on a computer that has an internet connection, then transfer the instrument to your music computer, though your music computer must be connected to the internet to authorize the instrument."
Iswingwood: are you sure they have a solution for this? And you know how work?

That's a bit of a hassle. A shame they make their customers go through this. The easy solution would be to allow offline activation for all.

I wrote them that if they don't have an offline solution I will not buy the instrument. I hope this will make people think ... now waiting for answer.

So... they said to me this again:
"You must authorize your instrument via your Spectrasonics User Account on spectrasonics.net – you must connect your music computer to the internet to authorize the instrument to work properly on that computer. It is a very fast process – you will only need to access spectrasonics.net, no other websites. Is there a reason you do not want to connect your music PC to the internet?"

    ...And I said this them:
"To increase my SO performance (win 8.1) I have reduced from anything that slows it down: no anti-virus, firewall, suspended some services, run like administrator only without filters or protection, and other specific uses... With my music-PC I make just music!
Other than that I live in the mountains, I have not ADSL, but a very slow connection. To navigate use a dedicated PC ... but my PC for music does not even know that internet exists!
Are you sure you don't have offline alternative procedures?
This is for me the difference between buying or not your great software ..."

We are an impasse! And now?
