Am guessing none of the nexus bashers on here makes top 40 chart music which intern puts big money in pockets and bank.
Its a reason why nexus is so popular, refx do all the hard work scoping out commercial sounding sounds shiiite you hear bumping on the radio all day long in the EU.
Who the hell use a virus ti. that thing most time just end up as an expensive midi controller to control soft synth or for studio decoration.
Nexus is the best sketch pad about for music, open protools load up a couple tracks with nexus on them pee paaap poo poop, bang I create a smashing hit.
No time for tweeking sounds, only time wasters tweek, and girls twerk.
Hek nexus has old sounds? you need to check the charts, old sounds is what keep the people bouncing.
Nexus Low on cpu compare to Omnisphere Ni Komplete takes ages to find sounds in there
Nexus is the go to tool for me, them comes Omnisphere, and Komplete
Its just a matter of if you can afford it. and if you can then show it off.
If you sexy and you know it clap your hands.
Am sexy and I more than know it.
    Big ego.

Check out how the rich and famous use the so so sweet nexus

It generally is a good sounding synth, IMHO - if you're okay with not being able to create your own sounds. I personally just use my creativity and let it flow with Nexus2. It is one of my go to synths. But my point is, why so expensive?? Whilst I didn't have a problem affording it, others do. I guess I'm just a lucky man. I don't know. Haha. But I really love it. My main concern for myself is that you can't quite make your own sounds. If nexus2 had this possibility like other synths such as Spire, Serum, Massive, Zebra do, I would not have a legit reason to complain. But it's so limited in that field and it's kind of absurd. Almost like Propellerheads are with Reason. Except Reason sucks 100%. I threw my copy of Reason 8 in a toilet after I took a nice long dump and then flushed the toilet. I watched it spin around and around until in disappeared into the sewer. Personally I never saw my copy of Reason do so much before then. So no regrets. Besides, it's not like you could make a half decent song with that crock of crap daw anyways.
Joking aside, Nexus2 does have some cool sounds and I use it in everything I produce. And to clarify, I produce many different genres of music. I produce rock, pop, house, tropical, trance, cinematic, and everything in between. I own a studio and some of the artists that come in love the Nexus2 dearly. I've even scored some films and video games in college while using some instances of that thing. Truth is, no music tool sucks in general. Not even Reason or Cubase. It just depends on what you feel comfortable using. It's all in the mind. The real limits lie within your creativity and imagination, which for me there is no limits. I'm still finding parts of mine that I never even knew I had. Much like mankind on deep space exploration, the surface of my imagination is as far as many can experience before they start saying "WTF?" and become lost and scared.:mad:

My top synths in no particular order are Nexus2, Spire, Synthmaster, Zebra, and Omnisphere. Those five alone I could easily live with and never complain about resources. Well, over at "The Big Zee" I now have a bit too many resources that I become lost in my own multiverse of an imagination. Also to clarify, the 803,355,487,580,794,583,395,286th dimension does exist when I open up my DAW. Not just a 1st, 2nd, 3rd , 4th, and 5th dimension and so on.:crazy::mad::mad::hahaha::mad::mad::crazy::mad:

finally someone got it right. the u.s. has sales tax (in most states) but the real difference comes from the fact that the u.s. believes in free trade and does not add tariffs or vat to imported products.

ummm you do realize nexus is basically a collection of sounds from actual hardware synths right? FE the patch introducing fatness is a sound that actually came from the waldorf microwaveXT called introducing…, i'm pretty sure the virus is in there as well and prolly a lot of the other major synth classics (tb-303, juno-6, moog and many others). having said this it's prolly cheaper to buy a few of these and sculpt your own sounds then to buy the full package (ok apart from the tb-303).

The only interesting point of this thread is what was suggested in the 1st post : How do you use a US IP address in order to check out and pay in dollars instead of euro?

the euro is pretty weak now, so last time i checked 100€ are now like 110$, in the summer we had almost 1:1.
i noticed UK is really bad for that, i heard some friends complaining about it.
well most EU countries have from 18-25% tax, which is a lot, i dont think this should be applied for audio software, but ohhh well we cant change it.
for example most of the audio companies do have the tax implemented in their prices, like for example Valhalla or Reveal Sound, i think thats better, i mean you actual see in number what you have to pay and not look strange at it, when you see for example for zebra2 215€ instead of 199€, was not funny to see that as i bought it.

Still 10 times more than it should be. All this I could pay 250 dollars for. Maybe.

better question would be "who doesn't use virus TI?". You just can't compare nexus to serious synths, if you get virus you can program whatever sound you want for the rest of the synth's life.

I think maybe the reason for the prices is that the euro/dollar exchange rate has been getting closer to 1/1 this year. Right now it is 1.00 Euro = 1.06 US Dollar. So the price is pretty much fair that way. The other way, the way that really counts, it is outrageously high priced! Hell, I could buy dentures for that!
