It looks like most disagreements in this forum derive from the inhability to understand that everything depends on perspective.

I tried to "decode" the OP's intention behind his words and looks to me that he's looking for some variety, ways to make his music feel like it has more "sections/movements" while keeping the same material.

Again, I could be totally wrong but either way I gave my own perspective, now it's up to him to "decode" it.

Exactly. Beyond that understanding, where does one glean an outside "perspective"? When it's all said and done (musically) in a hundred years from now, this very same conversation will be moot. That's a guarantee!

I think the last note does change every 8 bars however I think it's the same note but an octave up or down? Maybe need to use another note but in the same chord?

I think this you've hit the nail on the head there. The tracks I want to emulate are "old-school" sample heavy tracks like Prodigy "Smack My Bitch Up" or Fatboy Slim "Right Here, Right Now". However I end up doing midi synth tunes at a 125 BPM because they're "easier".

i.e. I'm writing music of a style that I don't particularly listen to myself.

At the end of the day, the main person you have to worry about entertaining or impressing is yourself. If you don't like the track, no one else is going to like it, either. And if you're not producing music you're not 100 percent happy with, what's the point? Keep this track around as a reference -- you may come back to it later with fresh ears or a new inspiration, or be able to take a part of it and create something new with it -- and move on to something else.

Here's how to make your track more interesting:

That beginning (of sorts) that starts at 1.45 .. make that the 'start' proper .. what would happen if the track started like that? How would you develop it?

That's sort of what I did. 1.45 was the main idea I started with. It felt like there was enough there to use this as the "drop" and then go develop a build-up, the breakdown and a drum track but I think somewhere along the way, the idea got lost.
