You have and opportunity of a life time.
Take advantage of it and don't clutter your pc with unnecessary stuff. Get what you need only. Trust me on this one. You don't need everything. All you need is 1 or 2 of each type of EQ, comp., synth etc.
If you download everything, you will need more time organizing and keeping up to date than making music.

 

You don't need tons of shit to make music! It's just what ads and marketing is telling you!
A daw, some (2-3) synths like sylenth, massive, serum, some according to the music style relevant drum samples (not more than 1 gb) and you should ready to go.

Most daws have good enough essential plugins/fx like reverb, delay, chorus, eq, compressors, limiters,... to start off. Of course, you may consider to get "better", commercial or free ones, but it's not necessary to make just music.

So fuck off - start clean with as little as possible and you'll see that your results will be better than with hundreds of vst(i)s.

 

It's easy to fall in the trap of hoarding plugins. I have gathered a truckload of them over time, but everytime I do a fresh OS install the amount of plugins installed diminishes. Most of the time I use the Waves CLA bundle for compression, Equality for EQ, Soundtoys and Lexicon for FX, Nebula to add character to tracks and SSL Duende for the buss compressor. Everything else is purely situational. I'm just used to them.

 

Less is more!
Gather those you used to work with and leave the rest for now.
Your Hdd will finish full of shits fast enough without forcing in the end.

Are you sure you lost them?
You can get back almost every files as long as the HD is not damage physical.
People sadly dont know that.
Even if you by mistake format your HD you can still get many files back not just photos and doc files but almost any file you need a good getdataback program for that not a simple one that focus on photos and doc:s
You need a REAL one that is capable of get back all types of files
