Except it is convenient to have the original plugs load for old projects that you revisit. I'm always afraid of trashing plugs due to having maybe used them on an old project and then having to reconstruct. But yes, you can get lost in them and forget about some of the gems you already have.

I find that iZotope OZONE 7 looks rather boring/ugly to my eyes.
Those excessive grey tones really suck. GUI design of course has influences on the work.
OZONE 5 looks much, much better!!

 

I actually prefer it. The earlier interface had an excessively busy color scheme and was not as well laid-out. Yes, the new one may not be as interesting, but keep in mind, Ozone is a mastering tool... mastering is when you are supposed to set creativity aside and focus purely on the technical aspects of finalizing the track. I think the new interface reflects that - it's more functional, efficient and modern. Maybe that's just me.

I also like that they added more horizontal width, it cleans everything up, it helped make it more modular and thus more intuitive. It would be really great if they added a full screen mode, though.

I find it "dry as a bone" hence not inspiring at all!

I absolutely dislike it when a program "occupies" the whole screen!
Not everybody has a modern machine with a SUPER-MEGA-sized screen.

 

That's why I think it fits the mastering mentality - purely functional as opposed to creatively inspiring eye candy, just as mastering is predominantly a functional, not a creative, task. Aside from that, I personally find that it looks pretty damn sexy.

I don't have a large screen either (I do most of my work on a laptop, or on my university's computers using Live9 Portable ), which is exactly why I'd like a full screen mode, to better see what I'm doing. Some of the fonts on the readout are so small it's difficult to make them out, and the analyzers and meters would benefit from taking up more space on the screen to see more details. When I use Ozone for mastering (or in my case, amateur polishing of the track), I prefer to use the standalone mode because it provides all the controls I need without a DAW. In that case I don't see why the window shouldn't be able to take up the entire screen like most other software does. Even in a DAW they could do what FabFilter did with Pro-Q2. Having the option doesn't harm anything.

Having used 7 for a bit, I must say: it's a big improvement from 6.1. Personally, I like the new interface very much.
