i think mostwest has added the links to the original post :) thank you mostwest.

question, has anyone set this up as a dual load yet? I tried to scan the thread but I didn't see any posts related to dual load. the reason I ask is that im interested in setting up a Linux/w7 dual load. and this ice extreme os look a whole lot better than the old sp1 option I had kicking around.

also as mostwest has mentioned, in taking the time to read all the instructions for a perfect install.. I'll probably print off a couple as i'll be blind during install

I didn't post it, since it's against the rules of the forum, the only links i posted are for the updates for x86 OS since they aren't within the pack.

I have a dual boot between OSX 10.10.0 and Win7 Ice. There are tons of good guides and tutorials on the net for this, my suggest is always install windows first and then the other os since it usually easier to setup in this way. I had to do the reverse thing and was really a nightmare, but in the end got it working as i want.

yeah, quite easy. Just follow the guide and everything will be fine. tested myself 3 times with both dekstop and laptop.

Well, I have a few problems after installing this. I 'm on a single core 2.4 and 2 gigs of ram, x86, and the thing is that I face a lot of spikes related to cpu. I disabled the auto update function but the problem remains. So, I guess I have to stick to my old and reliable XP version or maybe I missed something.
    P.S. Obviously I did update it. Shouldn't I ?

Well, i have suggested a dual-core as minimum spec because this is still Windows 7 Ultimate. This is the first time with Win7 on it?? Is your hardware compatible with Win7?? Are all drivers correctly installed?? Are CPU spikes occurring while at idle?? Are some process or services using too much ram or CPU? How much Ram are you using?? Have you tried disabling Aero??

Try to check all those things. My first suggest is go to developer site and make sure to have all correct drivers.

Ps: Make sure to disable Windows update from services pannel.

I take this as a no? dorian, it sounds like you ran into a pop up to update. I see several mentions here to disable update.

and thank you for the informative reply mostwest. actually the Linux os im looking at has instructions for a dual boot. and I have done this procedure before so yes, it seems windows first then Linux in my circumstances

I'm on XP since 2000 and yes this is my first time on 7. Device manager says that the drivers are update, so I assume I did the job correctly. I'm using less than 500 mb of ram and CPU spikes are occur even when pc is inactive (but not so often). I noticed that a svchost service cause the trouble. How can I disable Aero?
    Thanks for your trouble

I did disable the update service

For disabling aero just select the windows 98 theme without trasparency.

Open task manager list process by RAM used from the one which used most to the others and post here screen.

I wouldn't trust device manager, sometimes drivers are there but are not the right one. Try to download them from developer site.

Can you post the exact model of your CPU?
