One day if you are lucky you might
get to be this age or even older.
and you probably won't feel that old.

At the end of the day it's all relative.
I may be oldish but I'm younger than some!

It's all in the mind.

I must admit I do find it rather interesting though.
When I'm communicating with others through this medium,
age doesn't seem to get in the way of the discussion.

Now that you know my age do you see me any differently?
Does it change the way that you respond to me?

I personally don't care much about age as I have friends who
are around 20 years either side of my age span and I feel that
I connect with the age differences either way.
Emotionally they fit my criteria!

Age can be quite an interesting topic!
I find that some of my younger friends display more maturity
than some of my older friends.
Funnily enough the older I get the younger I feel in my mind.
Now what is that about??

So far it looks like the 'almost' 45 year age bracket is leading the pack. However, I suspect for not too long in this poll). But, I must say that between the ages of 30 and 45 a lot of stuff CAN and WILL happen! That 15 year gap can be a really huge one (for a whole bunch of reasons). I guess by the time we reach 45, we tend to look backwards, almost as much as we will look forward. At my current age (look up my profile) I'm already preparing for some real earth-shattering changes! <lol> As a final thought, my piano technique and style has already undergone a myriad of changes...

I'm not that far away from you (age-wise) Wolverine. But, alas I'm not that well preserved. On my best day, I could probably pass for... 50???

I'm a "borderline case"...

I'll give you a hint: my first computer was Sinclair Spectrum 48k and the first synth Roland Jupiter-4.

 

I used to slag off people that owned Sinclair computers.

Sorry about that mate.

I didn't think for a moment that I would ever
be interested in computers at that naive age.
Time however changes your perspective on things.
My computer is now a massive part of my life.

Mad how things change over time eh?

I only used Spectrum for like 3 months, as I soon found out that Commodore 64 is better, so I replaced Spectrum with C64. C64 was also *sooo much* better for making sounds and even music! Then I followed C64 with Atari 1040, Atari Mega 4, and finally Pentium 200 PC.

By that time I also had loads of nice synths, too... shame I thought that hardware "synth craze" and techno/EDM music was just a passing trend so I sold all of them and started doing it all in-the-box. :/ It was a bit too soon for that [2000-ish]. It's gotten much better with doing it in-the-box only about a few years ago, I think.

In all seriousness though. I think superliquidsunshine is kind of up there in years and hes awesome.

 

I started to discover the potential of computers around 1997.
My foray started off with good old Windows 95.

I was working on a government placement scheme at the time
and whilst there I began to learn about the windows 95 structure.

It was all pretty basic stuff back then but I soon started to realize that I could
download tabs and chords for popular songs to play on my guitar through this
medium when connected to the world wide web.

I also began to realize that computers could actually serve other functional purposes.

I naturally noticed that this could be a tool to further my musical interests
and so my fascination with computers began.

Wow!

Up to that point my knowledge of computers was barely nil.
I reckoned that anyone who used a computer was a complete nerd.

Well how wrong was I.....?

From 1997 up until now I have become well accustomed to the windows structure
and all of it's nooks and crannies.

Today the choices are a lot more varied and exiting than then.

I can plug in my Midi keyboard, Guitar, and Mic and make sweet music
I can write up a report or set up a database document
I can surf the net for great music videos, YouTube, documentaries or porn
I can edit and transform photo documents
I can go online and talk to my daughter from the other side of the planet...........etc.etc

The possibilities are endlesssssssssssssssss:

Growing up in the 1970's I thought that computers were a total waste of time
and energy.

My work placement in 1997 soon put a stop to that idea.

I soon began to appreciate the wonders of this digital realm and all of
it's potential benefits.

I could go on and on and on...............

However, I do realize the potential dangers that this medium holds.

Well that's a whole other story and one that can get really heavy and laborious but that's for another thread maybe...................Sometime!

I'm so old that I can remember operating pro tape decks that qualified as "portable" because they had four handles and could, therefore, be lifted by two strong blokes. And the heat off my Vox AC50 amp made sitting on it for more than five minutes a medical challenge.

 

I'm so old that in my first band the drummer just had wood and rocks to beat on, we recorded in one take onto a wax cylinder and if you wanted to sell your cylinders you had to go door to door. I'm going to take a nap now.
