Arturia plugs are they any good? Are they easy to instal?

i'm looking for Electro house sounds

i like a good rompler like trilogy so i thought i might try arturia products.

Vengeance do a cool sound set for the mini moog

    http://www.vengeance-sound.com/soundsets-arturia-eb.html

but the install looks a bit tricky?

Question 1 -Do the sounds load fast (trilogy = good ---- trillian = zzzzz snooze)
Question 2 is is stable (NI massive = bad ----- Sylenth = good)
Question 3 is it easy to instal

I use Live, but I have Dongle EMU version of Cubase, i kind of use cubase to check if things are working on a nother host, but hardly ever (but if i could keep cubase on there without a faf it would be good).

    any advice welcome on this

Arturia plugs have always worked fine for me, I use Ableton Live 8.2.2 on Windows 7, the only thing is to be sure that you run it as administrator. But in my honest opinion they have never really blown me away, except for the Spark drum machine which I really like, as far as loading patches it really depends on what type and if it involves samples, Trilian normally loads slow because of the large amount of samples that need to load. Their gui tends to be pretty cool, but can be pretty memory intensive. They are probably worth checking out though, might be something you could use

Yeah I believe it is a dongle emulator, but since I only have a vague recollection of the install, it can't have been too hard :) Like I said the only thing I remember having to do is run as administrator after. The reason I got the first one of theirs that I tried, which was the Moog Modular V2, was because I was watching a tutorial on analog synthesis, like all the principles behind it, and after the guy moved from real analog equipment to vst, that was the one he used because it had all the patch cord routing (kind of like in Reason) so you could get a really good idea about how everything works together, so it's not just a bunch of dials and buttons on an interface with a bunch of terms that you really have no idea what they mean because they originated in the long ago world of real equipment lol. So they do a pretty faithful recreation of the original if that's important to you, I think that is kind of their focus.

Oh, btw, I believe that one of the releases floating around includes that soundset, but you probably already knew that...

Ive trieed several of the Brass synths, none work for me.

MiniMoog is a monster, big thick dynamic sounds.

Spark EATS my cpu, but does sound great.

Most of the synths have overly-elaborate gui's which seem to impact system resources a lot too.

All you really need is Z3ta+ or U-He Zebra2 or something similar. Zebra2 covers a lot of ground between claasic to atomospheric sounds.
Also has morphing and multi-modualtion functions.

    Happy tracking....

My only experience with Arturia is related to Moog Modular and MiniMoog.

    - GForce's Minimonsta blow away Arturia's MiniMoog.
    - Moog Modular is very buggy. Here a list of some of them : http://www.arturia.com/evolution/smf/index.php?topic=1454.0

    Conclusion : definitely not essential...

Do the sounds load fast ? Yes, no samples here.
Is is stable ? Yes, but less than Sylenth1.
Is it easy to install ? Yes, as all AiR's releases.

Cubase 5 (AiR) + Arturia (AiR) = no conflict.
Cubase 5 (AiR) + Arturia (legit) = no conflict.
Cubase 5/6 (legit) + Arturia (AiR) = no conflict.

I use the Analog Factory, that's quite of a "best of" of the individual Arturia products.
Ideal for people like me, who don't want to spend lot of time tweaking sounds; just use a preset, adjust it to your taste, that's it.

I know some people who always claim that Arturia is one of the sloppiest soft-synth makers.
I don't really know why, Analog Factory is running stable, and the sounds are usable.

Only thing that annoys me is the preset browser.
If you want to look for a sound with certain characteristics, if you choose more than one, you get more results, instead of narrowing down the results, which is the only thing what would make sense.
So for example, if you look for a sound with the characteristics "dark" and "soft", you get all sounds which are tagged with one of the two, instead of the sounds which have both. That's nonsense, in my opinion.

Lotsa people rave about Z3ta+, I really dont like it. It has an UUUGLY gui and its awkward to navigate.

    @Gulliver
The Analog Factory is good for the reasons you stated. It takes forever to start is the major gripe I have with it. Whenever I open a random project and see that Analog Factory 'initializing' screen it makes me wanna cry :(

    cheers guys

i might stick with the good old sylenth and not bother with arturia stuff.

    :)

i'm getting back into the trilogy and nexus as romplers go (NEXUS is the synth equivalent of Marmite i love it and hate it at the same time!)

    --

i always spend ages learning a synth to find out that the artist i like use the free synth built into the sequencer, using a saw bass and a few FX. :wow:

    --

anyway cheers for the extra info everyone

They are really good and musical, maybe not perfect emulations but very close and very satisfying.

Quite good if used in conjunction with other VST FX to give them a little lift, but in football parlance I would say they are drifting towards the wrong end the La Liga.
