What's up people. The question is simple, I already have the previous Omnisphere version with 52 extra libraries/packs I manually added so I think I could say it's more than enough and enough to be pleased if you will, and it's not that I'm gonna get this new version but I'd like to hear your opinions about it.
I'm currently with a lack of space but who knows, I might consider it for a near future. I saw its size is around 60GB so there must be tons of things but maybe is more of the same, in a way.
    What do you think?

I bought v1 right after release. I used it 0 times. I have cracked v2. Still have no idea where i should use it. And sure i will buy it. Right after that moment when it will be suitable for at least a couple of projects. Depends on your needs. It was my most senseless money investment ever. I have no idea why people loves it. For me it's just a toy. Even nexus looks more useful. For granular things top notch solution is padshop pro.

If you are already happy with your synth just don't download it. There are some demo and sounds video on Youtube so you can check if those sounds fit your needs.

to many sounds you need 4 weeks to hear all sounds
and the most of the sounds sound equal and boring

    for edm ? NO
For movie soundtrack ? yes for sure

its your choice its depentet on your muusic genre

Well two things are really nice with omni V2:

1- Managing user samples is just a great improvement, drag samples to omni an could manipulate it is a great feature.
2- Freeze parameters and arpegiator while you change sounds is something great too.

Well I like quirky and unusual stuff.

I also like to mix dark, funky, and glitchy together, and Omnisphere 2 really excels at those three categories. So I guess it's up to your taste and needs. The bug with the patches is a real pain in the ass, but if I had the benefit of having access to Spectrasonics support it might be a different story. Truth be told, if I had a DAW and $1000 to spend on synths, I'd get Omnisphere, Synthmaster and Serum, then pocket the extra 200-something, because you really don't need anything else.

Final edit... I keep thinking of things to add after the fact. I never used Omnisphere 1 so I can't comment on the update. I just felt the need to defend its honor :)

Well...it depends by what genre of music you are in. If you need traditional instruments (see strings, brass, etc) it's not worth at all, but for electronics genres can be useful for sure.

It is a workstation spirit, on steroid. I tried v1 and v2...never used them at all. a chance i didn't bought them.
Yes, for sure, you get the best bang for the buck against Kontakt.
But at the end, you get bread and butter sounds on the electro side, good sound design/cinematic sounds and some "regular" bread n butter general sounds.
You want bass sounds ? Buy Trilian.
You want that Spire/Serum modern sizzle ? Buy them.
Omnisphere to me is good for ambient fx pads cinematic ... but not for bass, modern electro.

It depends on your needs. If you compose music for films or games, it is a very good option.
For goth, metal, industrial like me...no use at all.

I have to agree with most of you. Omnis 2 is great for movie, ect.. but I make Prog House and sometimes only use it to layer Arps/pads.. good for Atmos beneath or on track intro.. but everytime I audition the sounds in Omnis it makes me want to make a horror movie :dunno:

Omni 2 does have a few bugs at the moment(saving presets with song)which Ive ran into on ableton, not in logic x thought...
Having said that Omni 2 is just a beast of a plugin and can sound like everything under the sun.... That is also the down part of it, it almost has too much content for some people but If you spend time with it you can find or get to what your looking for rather quickly.. The browser in Omni 2 is just fab, all sounds nicely categorised .. I love it for all kinds of stuff from crazy paino's,choirs\vox,vintage synth sounds\tones and just crazy stuff in general but Omni can do bread and butter stuff as well and with ease... For sound design you have 50 gigs of samples that you can use as an Osc\sound source and with Omni 2 they put every synth waveform you can imagine and the way it deals with unison\harmonia is just sick... It is a very deep instrument and you definitely have to spend some time with it..

This is and endless software instrument, no limits in style, i donĀ“t agree with people in that terms, if you learn to use and view some tutorials you make everithing with Omnisphere.

    Thanks for the comments guys.
Looks like there's a variation in opinions but everything seem to tell me that it could be interesting for me due my interest for the ambient/cinematic thing. But on the other hand, there are tons of products about it (and for way more less space) as well that can/could 'fill' the Omni 2 empty space (sort of speech), so I guess it could wait for now.

I was refering to ambient/cinematic thing (not covering the whole plugin and music styles) when I said that, in case I didn't express myself properly. But still it applies to everything else I think. But if you're asking about ambient/cinematic and not just in general let me know and I would recommend you some great ones I have.

Then in that case, no problem, some great ones are:

    8Dio - Ambient Guitar
    8Dio - Hybrid Tools
    Atom Hub - Microbiology
    Audiority - Abstract Textures
Bela D. Media - Sampled Landscape Ambient World
Big Fish Audio - Cinematic Motion
Big Fish Audio - Darkness Cinematic Sound Design
    Brickwall Audio - Deviant Atmospheres
Boom Library - Cinematic Metal - Impacts
Cacophony Inc - Cinematic Tension FX Bug Fix Version
Dargalon Instruments Studio - KANGLING - The Sound of Death
    DJSH Music - Texture
    Force Sampling - Afterlife
    Force Sampling - Feedback Scapes
    Force Sampling - Post-Guitars
    Force Sampling - Vocal Scapes
    Insusurro - Pads
Microhammer - Iron Throne (alone may suck but add some dark pad in the background and you're done)
    Native Instruments - Action Strings
    Native Instruments - Evolve Mutations
    Native Instruments - Kinetic Metal
Native Instruments - Rise and Hit
    PlugInGuru - MegaMagic - Dreams.v1
Precisionsound - Angelic Vocal Pads (any of them, if you want it more 'heavenly' some nice pad in the background and nothing more)
    PureMagnetik - Mysterium
    SampleCraft LLC - Hybrid Injection
SonicCouture - Tape Choir (not just a choir believe me, if you have the creativity you can do way much more with it!)
SampleOddity - Weird Ambient Stuff 1.0
    Samplephonics - 50 IDM Soundscapes
    Samplephonics - Hollywood Tension FX
Soundiron - Iron Pack (didn't check much these volumes but they all sound great, but maybe not ambient enough. In other words they are cool but there are better ones)
    Spectrasonics - Distorted Reality
Spitfire Audio Labs - Scary Strings
    SubsonicArtz - Ethereal
    T.D Samples - Organic Desolation
    Zero G - Haunted Ground
    Zero-G - Ambient
    Zero-G - Nostalgia
    Zero-G - Rise Designer

And some drums/perc to make it more complete

    8Dio - Hybrid Rhythms
    8Dio - Solo Frame Drums
    8Dio - Water Percussion
Big Fish Audio - Suspense Cinematic Percussion and Soundbeds
    Embertone - Jug Drums Complete
Impact Soundworks - Cinematic Synthetic Drums
    Impact Soundworks - Shou Drum
    Soundiron - Little Epic Percussion
    SonicCouture - Hang Drum
    Sonokinetic - Sultan Drums

That's something to start with, and I bet I missed some but it's something at least :hillbilly: and I'm not counting samples packs, these are all Kontakt libraries, but there are other great packs which I have but not complete, only the ones that are or could be easier to manipulate (don't like loops much, no freedom for you there to compose).
