Roland Teases Three New ‘Boutique’ Synthesizers

Roland today released a teaser video for a new line of ‘Boutique‘ synthesizers, inspired by the classic Jupiter-8, JX-3P & Juno-106.

The Roland Boutique teaser doesn’t reveal much. But, as CDM and others have noted, adjusting the brighness of the video a bit reveals that the Boutique line is three new keyboards:




We’ll have to wait until an official announcement is made to know what the Roland Boutique synthesizers are.

why now everybody is doing minikeys stuffs?

personally i hate the minikey (i have big fingers XD), but it's not only that, you simply can't perform as you perform on regular keys.

Anyway i'm pretty curious about the Boutique range.

 

ACB probably, which is good new.
minikey is for portability, having a JP'8 in your backpack could be pretty hot is the price is fair.

and if you dont like minikey, just use it as a soundexpander by triggering it with midi ...

Why JXP3 instead JXP8

 

i think they're doing for the 'oooh it has flashy lights, i must have it!!!' effect, which is really working on me. i'm praying that somehow i win the lottery this month, the little bit of money i had saved is gonna be spend on a new macbook as one of them has died after 6 long years of service, i feel sad, this machine has travelled the world with me.

The Roland Boutique JX-03 module continues the legacy of the JX-3P synth. The original model was launched when button-driven interfaces were popular, so it was designed to give immediate access to preset sounds. It was actually highly programmable though, especially when used with the PG-200 controller that added 24 rotary knobs for instant sonic sculpting. The limited-edition 4-voice JX-03 inherits all 24 knobs from the PG-200, as well as the distinctive JX tonal character. Roland also added some extras not present in the JX-3P including new waveforms, expanded DCO range and cross modulation options. You can even slide the JX-03 into the K-25m keyboard unit (not included) for a self-contained, go-anywhere synth experience.

Often described as a forgotten classic, the JX-3P was all about instant access to big sounds, with a simple button-driven interface rather than lots of knobs and sliders. When used with the optional PG-200 controller however, the power of the highly programmable engine was revealed. The new JX-03 module recreates the panel layout of the PG-200 - including all 24 knobs - giving direct and instant access to the versatile synth architecture.

Additional sound-shaping options

Died as in the battery wont charge? For approx $80 you can get a replacement. Just something to ponder.

 

where to begin...
ok battery is dead yes, keyboard needs to be replacede, powerbutton part also and then the final one, logicboard is defective, basicly the repairs would about 2-300 cheaper than a new one, and no i'm not being ripped of, friend of mine works there and he's arranging it. the pro has a small amount of moisture damage which is enough to screw with several components

 

Ok, but I'd rather make a fool of myself and potentially save someone a few $ if I can, than not say anything at all though.

Lastly, is it insured on the house policy? as it might end up falling down the stairs in an unfortunate accident. Not that I would condone such things.

 

It's just a device, pal. An old, outdated, defective device.
Replace it and off you go.

I love it that the mini-keys keyboard is optional! ;) Great thinking, Roland. I'd rather use them with normal keys. But I wonder about the sound quality. I don't like how new Roland synths sound as they essentially sound just like the VSTis I use. Of course, the hands-on experience/real-time control is also important factor to consider, though.
