    Hi guys,

I'm normally using "Fabfilter Pro-Q2" for surgical interventions of the audio signal.
But I'm now searching the opposite: A musical EQ and/or a EQ to color the sound!
I want to form the sound creativly, and maybe a touch of analog warmth and saturation!!!
E.g. Kuassa EVE-AT emulates the classic Neve 1081 and 1084. But I still not checked this one.

Which "Top 5 Software-EQ's" can you recommend (except the Universal Audio ones) ?

    Cheers

I highly recommend DDMF 6144...It's got silk smooth filters and just the right amount of saturation. This is my go-to color EQ, and I think I've tried all of them. Very light on the CPU as well.

PSP's stuff sound great as well. My favorites are the ConsoleQ for Neve emulation and NobleQ for Pulltech.

  7. Gotta +1 the elysia museq, but the user interface is as mad as a box of frogs. NI Passive EQ is also very good. And the Waves H-EQ is hugely usefull. Most times, I make do with the TDR Slick EQ. Very lightweight and free.

Just yesterday I removed some EQ's from my stash, freebies of course, reasoning was simple, I barely got use for most of them, so in my arsenal from musical eq's favorite is TDR VOS SlickEQ, be sure to check the GE version, which got me intrigued too now after they did an update.

As seeing many are recommending Maag, be sure ot check ikjb - Luftikus :like:

Another really nice one is Sonimus - SonEQ, which incorporates few different approaches in one, so for sure check out SonEQ Pro

  12. Lots of folks liking the Maag. It is the very kiss of honey on a female vocal with the air band, but otherwise I find it very average in a Nevey kind of way.

Forgot to mention the Softube EQs, who do the underlying EQs in the NI offerings.

Yeah, I remember just using it on some kicks back when I was demoing it, would be hard pressed to shell out for it, on what you guys are using it mostly? :mates:

Gonna add Vibe EQ by Stillwell to the bunch too

Try 112db redline equalizer. It works from very surgical style up to musical analog equing. From cleanest transparent processing up to emulations of different saturated classic eqs you choose. Free phase - minimum, linear or between and antiminimum. Dynamic equing there. And more. All in one, but underrated unfortunately...

As xsze said, Lufticus is 99% similar to maag. Months ago I compared them.

Also I would add voxengo harmonieq, psp masterq 2 and nobleqex and other psp eqs. Tdr vos slick eq, ddmf, plugin alliance eqs, some of waves... Variety of sound stuff... URS stuff. And nebula and acqua plug-ins...they are realistic.

    Uad as pro dsp processing

planning on buying DDMF 6144, been test driving it for a while. I don't like how it responds on the mid and low end but I think it's really amazing on the highs. specially on vocals and guitars. 39$ is very acceptable for what it does in my opinion.

The mid-low and mid I like to stick with TDR Vos Slick eq, which is partially free but is still great without the extra options.

on the low end generally stick with an as linear possible eq

Acustica Audio for really top notch EQs with mojo, but the prices are kinda high.
HoserXT, SlickEQ GE(featuring a few different colours) and the Scheps-73 by *waves* ( :deep_facepalm: ) is good as well. I didn't try MuseEQ or the other eqs specified above.
If you have the money, go for Acustica Audio stuff. I'd personally go for them + Pro-Q2. You'd need nothing else.

Why pro-q2 is everywhere? Why don't you like equilibrium? an advanced eq ever, haven't seen eq before, that offers advanced phase adjustments and other stuff. Or is it so because of matching functions? Hmm..to me there's no better matching than ears and brains...proq is cool, but equilibrium is monster cool...

I know the OP was clear about excluding UAD stuff. This is all about native plugins. However, I'd like to add one more question to the topic:

What's a native alternative to Manley Massive Passive from UA? I only have tired the UAD version and it's fantastic. You can't go wrong with it, but 300 bucks is a lot money. Imagine how much the hardware EQ is! Is there an alternative to it?

Apologies for hijacking the topic a little.
