You're so right sadly. I LOVE Live, it's my go to DAW, but there are so many features they need to improve and if they'd JUST put a post up saying "Right, here's what we're currently working on" you'd feel better, but no.. that's too simple

people tried that during the v8 times, there was a topic with 100+ pages on the old ableton forum and only a handful from like 200 features got implemented and then i see Cockos with reaper 5 pulling out VST3 support out of nothing and they also said they were working on it.
the Ableton team never tells what they working on ...

i really Live as my DAW - the one and only, but this static development makes really no fun - i see also no point in continue testing the betas, look at the Beta Notes for 9.2.1b2, just some Hardware related changes, nothing important. zzzz

maybe the most newb question ever, but how will vst3 help live? i use vst2.4 on mac and the odd AU for companies like sinevibes and z3ta+2. seems to work fine for me, but i welcome any improvements.

@Oysters I'm told certain plugs are only supporting VST3 and/or can only utilize certain features via VST3. The main ones I hear complaints about are vocalign and (I think) Autotune now being VST3-only, and certain Waves plugs which rely on sidechain can only use it with VST3. There are supposedly other advantages. Certain routing advantages--I think 3 has less limitations on input and output; Steinberg also claims VST3 has higher efficiency, which according to the tests I've read about is a bit dubious. But as far as I'm concerned it doesn't make a dingleberry's worth of difference in my music production.

thanks for the useful reply! looks like it doesn't really affect me so i don't really care if ableton don't adopt it for the time being. i have heard about the waves side chain thing. but waves is a company i have no interest in, and all my other vst 2.4 plugins that need/use side chain seem to work fine for me.. anyway sorry for taking this thread off topic, i will be hush now!

    9.2.3b1 Release Notes
    Bugfixes:
    • MIDI Note Off messages could be skipped as a consequence of an audio drop out, resulting in hanging notes.
    • CPU spikes leading to drop outs could occur when firing Clips, stopping Clips, Clip editing during playback, Clip scrubbing and when pressing the Back to Arrangement button.
    • Live’s interface would respond slowly when the Display Zoom was set to a value other than 100% on OSX using the 32-bit version. This bug fix also improves scaled drawing performance on Windows 64-bit.

    Live 9.2.3b1 OSX 64 bit
    Live 9.2.3b1 WIN 32 bit

they are really quick with that. sometimes it took them 100 years to go for a new beta.

just wish they would add new features to live.

Why has no one commented about how they fixed pdc in a recent beta? ableton is epic now :D automations and everything.

hover over vst and latency (in number of samples) is displayed in bottom left

because they have ignored it the typical ableton way.
same about vst3 support or introducing a native LFO device or some new features, they just keep pushing numbers.

the changelog gives me everytime a boner ...

    first of all- welcome!

but please forgive us for not posting info on every beta release, but i will try to from now on.
and yes ableton has massively improved latency/PDC/automation issues, and are still ironing out bugs with betas every now and again. really it is something they should have sorted out ages ago, and i think ppl really want something new and good, seeing as daw development from most other competitors is going at lightning pace compared to progress made on Live 9.

waiting for something relevant in their release notes.
best is when they come with any hardware scripts their added or improved. sometimes i think they just add something, to release a new build or beta.

I just want them to finish their "secret" plugin/channel strip option on the session view. That could be really useful for mixing.

i just want a native LFO device, max4live sucks, load 10 LFO devices and you will see what i mean.
vst3 support should be an option too! i mean its 2015 now almost 2016 and VST2 SDK was long time ago now pulled from the servers.
