I know there's a thread about EQ's already, awesome one too, but I'm interested in specific here and that's surgical go-to's

My prediction is that FF's Pro-Q 2 and Live's EQ 8 are going to dominate here

Me, well, I'm still torn between Equilibrium and Equalize and using ReaEQ at the moment :winker:

Sorry to sound boring and predictable XSZE, but FabFilter Q2 for me is the only one I use anymore. It's pleasing to the eyes as well as the ears.

Everything about it is so good.

Don't be sorry, I know majority are using it like there's no tommorow, same like opening a go-to synth thread and seeing Sylenth dominating :mates:

    Ohh, we need poll

iZotope Ozone 5 EQ (Advanced) has a digital surgical mode with a slightly tweaked filter shape. That's the 1st thing I thought of when I read the title. Ozone 5 EQ is also good for small tweaks. You can use it in IIR, FIR, and mixed-phase modes. It can change phase too, and has a nice on-EQ phase visualization.

But sometimes I use Voxengo HarmoniEQ for small tweaks (even though you're not supposed to, because it colours the sound?)

I haven't upgrade to Q 2 (next mounth I'll do it, I hope) but it's hard to say "there is something better out there" about graphic EQs. Anyway from now on Brainworx bx_digital v2 is my favourite choise...on master buss. Its Mid-Side capabilities are really spectacular. :drummer::chilling:

    hello, all surgically equalising fellows,

nearly always the universal audio digital sonnox oxford, sometimes the cambridge version, used here, scalpel-wise, with one filter enabled usually capable to do the required task, when two would be needed, better to record anew, better to change the preset used within the instrument track to fit more.

here is one wishing all the best for all of us, plus pray do also include the sharpest, most deep cutting, tools for our rarely coming up such duties...

Flux epure very cool for this kind of thing. Used PSP Neon and still like that. Anything by DMG Audio always good

What's the deal with it, except it's priced higher than Equilibrium and offers even less than Equality? :dunno:

I agree xsze, I don't have it myself. I have used it a few occasions and it was great.

I also agree that their pricing structure in general is inflated & outdated.

For general use DMG audio probably a better choice

I use DMG's stuff all the time. To my ears, their plugins sound better than Fab Filter's...

I know, I know...Pro Q 2 looks really good, but there's just something I don't like it about the way it sounds, even in Linear Phase mode.

I also use Studio One's Pro-EQ a lot, for less critical tasks.

Think I did shootout before and couldn't tell one from another (Epure, Equick and Pro Q), in minimum phase mode, dunno, I just don't hear it, but Equick was the one that clicked with me the most workflow and layout wise, guess there's not that much endorsement and hype around DMG, becuase, it beats Pro Q in his own game, being a fast go-to, that's obvious right from the get go, try changing filter type, yeah, let's dive in bellow on menu bar, not on DMG, it's on the dot/band immediately.

Basically the only EQs I use. EQ8 for 90% of tasks, ProQ 2 when I need spectrum grab, automatic gain matching or steeper slopes. Every once in a while I'll slap a hardware emulation on something, but honestly fully parametric is where it's at for me.

For cutting frequencies I agree Artic, EQ8 is on par with Q2, however, I did a +6db boost test to 3 random frequencies a few months ago and compared to FF Q2 I found it to be not as accurate.

    Tested with Live's Spectrum Analyzer.
