    yes, what may happen is your "cracked" plugins may call home and then they will stop working

    what you need do is to block your DAWs access to the internet (firewall rules), so that nothing can call home to check their registered status. then you can still open and use your browser etc

    or just simply disable your network adapter whilst using your DAW, but this will stop all internet traffic

    The Only Plugins That Call home Are U-HE Stuff
    (By the way i don't use U-HE Anymore cause i use omnisphere 2 is enough to me :)

    The only difference is by turning off internet your PC (Desktop/Laptop) Will Consume Less RAM
    Cause If You Have Enough RAM Like ME, You Can Stay Online But It Will Be Better to work offline because working online it may cause some distraction (you know fakebook, youtube, Skype, MAIL,...etc)

    Doesn't matter. Usually you just get less creative, or at least loose the flow, with internet (and all the billions of interesting things on it).

    It does matter try use a cracked tone 2 or other call home plugins like Bias when using your DAW and is online especially if you dont know anything about stopping it from call home.

    But you are right about less creative

    So online or offline (just use what make you feel the vibe when you make your music)
    back in the day there was no youtube or tutorial when i start making music on my AKAI MPC with no daw at all
    musicians these days they should be happy and motivated because there is endless resource for musicians to make incredible music :shalom:

    That's why i stopped using cracked plugins Years ago because I use AAX Now
    and imagine when you have Avid Pro Tools Session or FL Studio Project File (or any project format that will cost you more than the plugins itself & cracked plugins if they stop working that will drive you crazy believe me that already happened to my co-worker) there's too many plugins , the best thing is to pick what you use the most and save money for it and buy it cause that's what i do to make sure that the good developer stays in business to deliver us new plugins

    Note : by doing that i have now 7 legit plugins that i use everyday

    I have a designated computer for just for music with no wireless card and no modem anywhere close, for a couple reasons

    1. No distractions.
    2. It allows me to get the absolute most out of my computer. No processes or services running that don't directly affect its usefulness as a tool for making music.
    3. No chance of a plugin calling home, a security problem, Windows update-related BS, etc. slowing me down.

    I don't know if that's useful to you, but that's how I prioritize it.

    Aside from the risk of any cracked software's "phoning home," it's a good idea to disable the wireless connection, since just having that "on" drinks system resources in the background. Additionally, if you have a web browser open while a DAW is running, that will devour a lot of RAM. Even having had a browser open just prior to opening the DAW, without first having cleared the RAM cache (ideally, by re-starting the computer), can leave, oh, a couple GB of RAM encumbered and unavialable to the DAW.

    Aside from crack apps or plug ins calling home in general no LAN & WIFI adapters take a lot of PCI bandwidth when running . A valuable resource in computer terms and vital to your audio interface bandwidth. will it kill you having it on, in todays world prolly not but its could menthe ability to add anywhere from 2 to 5 more tracks in a given project depending on the DAW. As far as VST phoning home , i would never use a plug in like that in the first place bought or cracked. that phoning home increases the plugs foot print on the system, you gain nothing its really only for the producer of the plug in, im not really keen and giving up any performance just because of copy protection.

    If there is no particular reason to be connected, than no.

    Do not waste any resources when working in a DAW... Kill them all ! :)

    You need a firewall to block the soft they would like to phone home. If the firewall blocks them there is no problem at all.

    NO good idea to use the Internet while working on a DAW. :excl:
    The caches of most Browsers can get heavy while surfing and steal space.
    Emptying their cache after each long surfing session is advised.

    Well, some cracked Plug-Ins call home, others not.
    Sometimes It's also the crackers fault because they very seldom patch the
    addresses in the execution binaries, a simple thing that everybody can do
    using a simple Hex-Editor.

    I completely shut down the modem while working on the DAW
    .
    Best thing to do. :wink::cool:
