The 3rd party Scan \ list thing didnt work well for me at all.. maybe I have too many VST's... just stopped scanning after a while, and even the ones it scanned, for the most part would only list 128 sounds.

Gave up on that. Theres no way.. after.. the plugin directory is scanned to tell it to scan the actual presets of the plugins it has found.

Was verrry random for me, and after a few plugins, completely stopped. Seems very buggy.

Maybe with a much smaller plugin directory.. might work properly.

I kept it, but mostly just for the Pads, to trigger my own drum racks in Live.

    thanks for the comments...

hmm sounds like it will end up being a pad controller mainly for drums...
already have a pad modded mpd 26.. and a padKontrol ... probably not going to be a go for me

the reviews online weren't raving about the software either

no use for the sequencer eh?

  3. It's 237 CHF here in der Schweitz, still...nope. I had bought a used Arturia SparkLE for 100 beans and it kinda works. It glitches and sputters and sometimes forgets to play the first beat of a kick line, so I guess I am happy with what I already have.

Frankly I like it for melodic instruments too. It's got Scale presets for the pads, meaning you can load D minor and the pads will already be mapped to the appropriate notes. I am retardedly bad with keys so anything that lets me play a melody without a keyboard is a win for me. This is another thing it doesn't do quite as well as the Push, but it works and I like it for when I pair the TFP up with the laptop and leave the Push on the desktop. You can move up and down in octaves by pressing the pad bank button. Ironically, the only thing I don't really like it for much are drums. I learned fingerdrumming on the Push, where the pads are small enough to play a kit with one hand and play some accents/one shots with the other. I'm not a huge fan of drumming on big pads, but you'll get that on everything but Push and Launchpad.

I'm not quite as critical of the software as One Reason. The third party preset scanning doesn't work quite as well as advertised, but very few things do. The problem being it doesn't load all of my synths' presets. It does give me a pool of presets from various synths in my library, and the browser is fast.

The TFP is also supposed to be capable of much much more as far as mappings. The problem is that it is ungodly un-intuitive and the manual is insufficient, so neither One Reason nor I have any freaking idea how to get the most out of this thing. If it were my only controller I'd probably put in the time and learn it. But since Push does everything I've ever asked it to with zero hassle, I pretty much just use the TFP for launching samples from the bundled software and playing it with Arsenal when I'm loading synth patches from Arsenal.

I think it's a pretty good controller. I think the software is useful but not what it's advertised as. It would be a much better controller if it had more intuitive menus controls or better documentation.

nice one Cav Emp , good food for thought while trying it out.. :like:

and i won't even bother to ask how you keep track of where your samples are
on that Ableton Push.. 64 pads? :woot: ( or whatever info they control/contain )

Not that hard. I don't use all 64 for starters. Rarely even half that. I just set up my kits so that the same type of sample is always in the same place, and I make 128s out of everything so I rarely even need to switch the pads out (though I've got lots of banks of 128s). Kick's always in the same place. Snare, FX, etc. Turn the macro knob to launch a different sample from the same pad. Library organization is king.

Is there any creative genius that can "extract" the airdrums program from Arsenal as a plugin??? I wish I could use it on its own....I don't want to have to buy a TFP just to use Airdrums wrapped inside of Arsenal :(

I don't think Arsenal requires a serial number, does it? Just Hybrid.

I gotta say, the air drums and Hybrid libraries are actually really good.

Don't know but AirDrums can only be opened inside of Arsenal from what I know of.

I think I read somewhere that somebody tried to find a .dll for Airdrums but they was none?

Arsenal is useless without the TFP..

Disagree. You can still play the notes corresponding to the pads... or, for instance in user mode on the Push, map to the pads and play it that way. It's a half decent librarian for presets and kits too. half the time I load Arsenal to browse some synth presets and play it on the Push

Some M-Audio stuffs were pretty good.
M-Audio Delta series (PCI + good drivers) is an example.
It is like Berhinger FCB1010 or BCR
