Does an Interface improve AU Performance for OSX like a PC would with an ASIO Driver?

Hey I cannot get a straight answer from anyone, because everyone wants to sell me something.
I am a pro, I have had different results with different configurations.

However, I am looking to see if there is any processor or interface that actually uses DSP processing off the device rather than just my ram.

I am talking native here, not any sort of TC Electronics or Soundgrid option unless it works with native AU plugs.

With the computing power current pcs or macs deliver there really is no need for a dsp interface to take load off the cpu (yes, cpu, not ram).
That's why there are almost no manufacturers for dsp cards left. tc powercore - gone. ssl duende - gone. What remains is Universal Audio and Pro Tools, which run their proprietary formats.

Frankly, there is so much baloney in your posting, I doubt it helps your credibility to state your professionalism in the context of this posting.

Native means native, all calculations are done by the cpu, BUT a good driven interface can take quite a lot of work (AD-DA-conversion, routing etc) from Your processor. I think it´s worth to use an external one even though Apples internal core-audio is a fine piece of software.

Could you please elaborate a bit on what you're up to?
It's hard to answer such a general question.

Expanding one Mac's resources might be done by simply using a second Mac and connecting them over the network by means of Vienna Ensemble Pro. There are various freeware alternatives but many users say that VEPro is currently the best option, and a no-brainer especially if you're working professionally.
Another option might be the iConnectivity iConnect Audio 4+ to connect 2 Macs.
I don't know of any audio interface that could offload CPU power by running VST/AU plugins on its own Intel CPU, although that's not really a bad idea (Developers, are you listening? ;-)
Imagine an audio interface with an Intel i7 4-to-12 core cpu and just a barebones main board around it that would take unprocessed audio data on multiple channels and return the processed audio, all controlled from a master VST or VSTi plugin inside the DAW.
This interface could run both Mac and Windows compatible VST, VSTi, and AU 32bit and 64bit plugins and free the user from system limitations. I know it is possible but I'm curious who will be the first to take up the challenge.
