Well I guess you also want to capture the screen, right?
I tried several freeware products, but in the end I didn't really like a single one of them.
Camtasia is working really great for me and records my microphone and DAW without any problem, but it's 299 bucks so if you're not really serious about making tutorials you might need to look for an alternative. Or you can try the demo version or well... a... longer demo

But you could also try to route your microphone to your DAW and just record the DAW sound (which now icnludes your mic).

It would be interesting to know where exactly your problem is. Do you just hear either your voice or the DAW in the recording? What DAW are you working with? Which sound interface/driver/device do you use? what kind of microphone do you use? (some USB mic or some headset?)

I think he's probably having trouble because of ASIO driver (ASIO4all???)
I had similar trouble any time I tried to play something from my DAW it would take control of the audio device and stuff up the recording.
I'd also love some guidance on how to achieve this without buying a mac. :)

It's quite easy to do but you need a decent studio condenser mic (from approx $200) and a pro sound card (more $$$). You could buy one of those tacky headphone mics but it will sound like the phone and you will hear 'pops'. Quite honestly if you're clueless you should pop over to Fiverr.com and get someone to voice it for you from a script you supply, you can get great results from there.

You should state clearly what you've tried so far, which DAW, what mic you're using etc.

Good question...I use Studio One 3 and it takes over my computer sound (not using external sound device yet). I've tried to disengage the sound card properties so that PreSonus does not 'take command' of the hardware but that does not work. I'm afraid to try Camtasia since last time I had issues with one of their drivers...additionally Camtasia tends to record audio in low quality...even if I set it to a CD standard...I once did get good audio from Camtasia when I set the recording to 48K...otherwise I would have dropped several tuts about Studio One 3...I will have to wait until I get my external sound card. My MIC is the computer default MIC...which is generally good enough since the point in making tuts is the philosophy.

Playback/listen to your tracks while recording a voice track. Mix new voice track to old audio. Am I misunderstanding the question here?

The guy in the video is popping his mic and that sounds awful, he sounds like he's using one of those headphone-mics, they're ok for helicopter pilots but not for a professional sounding narration.
