First music post, All in the box except for Vocals. Some of the forum members asked for a sample of my work. here ya go, sorry it took so long to post. Leave comments please.

This song was experimental from my point, the goal was to make a full song using just virtual instruments and vocals, and have it sound like a Real recorded full band, playing with real instruments in a studio. Maybe I did that? I don't know, I am too close to the project to know. Song is not intended for commercial release.

EDIT: Redone the Mix and fixed the harmony vocals. Something went wrong with the previous post, It was in mono, sorry.

Hey man, what's up? It is nice to finally take a listen to something you've been working on. Quite a style you got there huh. By the end of the song I happened to catch the melody in my brain, and later, understand the whole song. Not the traditional verse bridge chorus, you have to pay attention to notice the transitions, the solo was long but well articulated and above all, it was suitable for the style of the song. Countless solos i've heard that had nothing to do with the song.
There's only one thing I'm not that confortable with is those endings during the last words of each passage. While the pitch goes down on the vocal, it seems kinda out of tune. I'm sure that as you said taking vocals into the box, and doing some more adjustments should be fine. Nothin' you don't know nor can't solve, you've probably got more experience here than many of us.
Happy new year bud and congrats for your work.

Hey Pops, Thanks for your comments, I know what you are talking about. I Took the phrase "Lucky to be Alive" and created 2 harmony parts with Melodyne. The lead Vocal that I copied and modulated had a real strong vibrato, now all three vocal parts are all pitched correctly, but have the same strong vibrato. I should go back and take the vibrato out, I can hear the pitching problem. Good Ear catching that, I kinda thought it was a cool effect, however that vibrato vocal chord (root, 3ed and 5th) does sound out of tune like that.

Good to hear from you, hope things are well for you and Happy New Year!

Nice style man... Im drifting away from that kind of genre, but that ones pretty nice. Very unique sounding voice.
I think the rhythm guitar could use more oomph at times... or probably more of that Iggy Pop/garbage/trash distortion feel...:D if you have any idea what Im talking about...
I think the guitar and vocals drift away some time which actually sounds kinda right and nice...fits the style. At 1.05 for example the song comes up, but I don't really know what it is that keeps it from breaking out. Could be the drums that could use a little more drive...or just a little different emphasize on the drum mix...
Don't know if this makes sense. Just wanted to state my thoughts on this one...

Hey Mr Burninstar, nice one, not really my cup of tea but cool.
Find it too much bluesy or not enough punky, the rhythm section is a bit weird sounding.
dunno if it' coming from soundclound compression or what but drums verb is a bit "shiny metallic"
and don't fit with the bass.
According to Touma's comment, i find also your voice out of tune on ending phrases.
Anyway, keep it up, thx for sharing and may the force be with u in 2012

OK, Listened again on my new ATH-M50 phones. Stereo field is pretty narrow, crowded. EQ sounds not quite right. I think that is mostly on drums (kick) and maybe something else, but not the over all EQ. Hard to pinpoint that. at 25 seconds something doesn't jibe on the rhythm track. Kick and bass? Getting there, buddy. Song itself is rockin'. Keep tweaking. Kick in halvsies and we could buy some new studio monitors and share custody every other week.-Peace.

Thanks for all the comments guys. I'll try to fix those concerns and try again.

See ya probably at the club on Wednesday Algae, We'll talk.

I think a lot of the comments have to do with the quick mastering job. better monitors could help a lot, and thanks to these comments, I need to go back and fix that pitchy vocal, maybe even change that melody there as well. Might try just drums, Bass, guitar and vocal mix leaving all the other crap out.

This song was experimental from my point, the goal was to make a full song using just virtual instruments and vocals, and have it sound like a Real recorded full band, playing with real instruments in a studio. I have more projects in the works though. Been working on an more acoustic sounding song, and a blues shuffle.

Hey guys I did go back and remix this piece. I also fixed some of that vibrato pitch on the backing vocals.

I will probably rework the whole vocal later with different lyrics and melody.

The old one has been replaced with the new one on soundcloud and at the top of this page. Take another listen if you want to. Due to your comments I took a different approach this time with the mix.

Thanks again for your comments and suggestions.

Great music "Burninstar" !!! Thanks to you i finally hear some great rock song on this site. This remind me on great rock music from late 70 & 80s where i think is created some of the best music. I think you need best monitoring system for mastering... Great solo on guitar :)

Thanks for your comments, The track you heard is not mastered yet, It is just mixed very quickly. I had to put up this version because the one I originality posted was flawed badly.

The solo is entirely not real, MIDI generated from another program for my chord progression, played through Real LPC and Electri6ity. I was kinda surprised it turned out that well.

Keep Rockin' and thanks for listening.
