Equavescent3 is a collaboration with the users of Equavescent2. We asked our users what they would like and we tried to implement it.


Our new features include:

• equal volume mode (auto matching of volume when varying Q). Volume adjustments proportional with Q has been a mild feature since Version1, but users suggested having it in a switch. Shift clicking a band on will now help you refine your eq settings. In this equal volume mode, changing Q will not change the relative volume of the band. This allows users to set the tone of an equaliser easier.
• adjustable left and right frequency in graph view.
• scalable gain and frequency in graph view.
• control click soloing of bands.
• frequency can follow keyboard notes in the graph view. There is also a keyboard showing notes in the graph view.

We of course have included new innovative algorithms to give you new 3.0 filters. We have also included past legacy filters in Equavescent3. These filters started in January 2014 with the highly imitated original "natural 12dB slope". Our "natural 12dB" slope came at a time when audio engineers were arguing that all digital equalisers were the same. Users can now explore this evolution of our impulses and pick and choose what suits their needs.

Version 3.0 impulses mathematically take the transients of biquad filters and combine them into our precise FIR filters. These new filters preserve the transient. They make some traditional FIR filters sound like a band of white noise.

Don't blame me but... I hope the user could change the interface color (so white): producing/mixing needs look at the monitor(s) many hours every day and looking at so bright GUI could hurt eyes, especially if the user eyes have vision problems (like me).

 

Great that you listen to and assimilate user feedback which is unfortunately not as common as it should be. However, I'm going to have to agree with the guys concerning the GUI because I'm personally not too fond of white backgrounds particularly for audio plug-ins. On a side note I noticed that your nickname is different since the relaunch. If you'd like a name change then contact me at your convenience and I'd be happy to handle it for you.

 

The contrast switches on the display allow for a dark background on the frequency graph and or the sliders. Some users wanted a dark background with the possibility of a white frequency response. This is in the product. We are listening. Give it a listen.

Check out the gearslutz thread under Equavescent2. Users discuss everything, but most importantly as Audio Engineers they actually discuss the sound. It may help you see the bigger sound, I mean picture.

When a user needs to use/try a new software, the first thing he notice is its interface and how the elements are arranged with each other. When the user has adapted to them he verify the use and advantages it may have. Unfortunately, your interface can appear quite chaotic, because someone decided not to create any form of separation between the sections, and the idea of giving him a "holographic" style is unrealistic (... we do not live in the reality of "Minority Report"... not yet). Now... We notice if the colors are wrong; we notice if the interface is easy to use or not and, after our tests, we decide if we like it or not. Eventually we decide whether to buy it. That's all (...you agree or not).

I appreciate the response and maybe I have pursued a different slant on the interface. I am trying to encourage potential users to look beyond this. I have owned some pretty ugly hardware in my time. There are some very ugly fast cars. It is very hard when creating some pretty radical algorithms, to just have comments on the look. It almost makes me feel paranoid.
I was trying to help potential users who may be interested in the sound, but just could not be bothered downloading Equavescent, to be able to find comments on the sound.

BTW-I love the minority report analogy. If only my plugin looked that cool. I appreciate what you are saying and I wish we were all as good looking as Eiosis.

Still a hold up. We have AAX working and the update should include AAX

 

Exactly, it's pretty weird when you post your audio related product on an audio related forum to get "complains" about the look when they probably didn't even tried it first. All your work and everything that this product is all about it's actually its algorithms and the way it sounds.
I hated S1v3's look when it came out but even though, it's still my main daw. Should i avoid a sonically good tool just because of its interface? Of course not. Please don't take the GUI complains too personally, just do what you know do best. If there's a way to make the interface darker, fine. If not, i can live with the default one as well. When i load the plugin on a track, its purpose is to process something sonically, not to play with its eye-candy knobs and sliders.
