Fog Convolver is a convolution plugin that applies the sonic character of an impulse response to another sound in real time.
An impulse response is a recording of the output that is caused by an acoustic space or electronic gear when an impulse is
played (electric spark, starter pistol shot, the bursting of a balloon or an explosive fart).

Fog Convolver can be used to add reverberation, create special effects, and apply an acoustic impulse captured from audio
equipment. The factory bank features more than 250 impulse responses made from spaces, analog and digital equipment,
speakers, organic sources, toaster ovens, elephant testicles, and more.

    Specifications:

    - 250+ Impulse Responses
    - Lightweight real time Convolution Engine
    - Impulse Response Export (drag to DAW/export to WAV)
    - Preset Browser with customizable categories, tags, rating
    - Formats: VST, AU, and AAX (32/64bit)
    - Platforms: OSX, Windows

Surely a super nice looking plugin  ... more importantly, it does a superb job with what it's designed to do.

    This actually looks legit sick...

I've never played around with an impulse reverb before...or maybe I have but just never noticed it...

I still don't get how they work though... so your basically using an audio signal to affect another audio signal? And how does that impulse end up making a sound become reverberated?

    Someone enlighten me pls...

Well it's quite simple. Convolution is created playing a fast-transient sample and a sweep in a room (or running the sample/sweep thru a gear).
Once sampled, a software subtracts the transient and the sweep from the sampled material (using anti phase and filters) to obtain the room sound / the gear sound.
A convolution software can use the resulting sample and apply it to any sound, recreating an ambience or the sonic character of an outboard gear.

ahh nice, so you're basically taking the initial recorded tone of the reverb developed by the transient instance in a room, and applying it to another sound + editing it. Coolness :D
