Left and Right channel the same volume? VST plugin?

    i just bought a field recorder, but now having the issue that my audio is not the same volume on both channels,
    thats really bad for sound design.

    do you know of any plugin, which can make both channels equal loud?
    right now i dont want to only use the left channel or the right channel and mono it, because i think it still hold some nice information to have both channels still active.

    appreciate any ideas. :wink:

    Split the left and right channels into separate files,mono both of them and put one 100% left and one 100% right. Then ride the volume with automation if the volume difference is a lot, otherwise just adjust the volume sliders on your mixer and that should be enough.

    If the recorder is faulty, return it and get a new one.

    Or are you just recording stuff off-axis... or have you accidentally changed the input gain on one side/channel?

    You have a mix/volume knob in your DAW/wave editor (for stereo files) - it's called the pan knob.

    its the nature of stereo recording
    you could throw on something like plugin alliance Millennia TCL-2 and turn the stereo link off the even things out abit
    or any other comp that allows you to turn off stereo link

    but as soon as you do anything like that you will screw with the stereo image and may as well take the left or right depending on which as the better recording of the audio info your interested in.

    Doesn't matter, since it's only subtractive in this case (stereo file).

    maybe DMG Audio Dualism? DrMS? AOM Cyclic Panner?

    AOM Cyclic Panner helped me return bad recorded out-of-phased stereo piano (recorded from Roland). There were just problems with wires or output from keyboard/synthmodule.
    try AOM Cyclic Panner to rotate it and DMG Dualism to go further

    or re-record

    Waves InPhase comes to mind. You can bump the volume on either channel with that.
