Had a little play earlier today. Not bad, low CPU usage and nice GUI. I don't think Kontakt users will be looking over their shoulders any time soon though.
But all in all not bad at all, and for free we definitely can't grumble!

 

Sense folks who initially paid retail price for this aren't that thrilled about this, this is not first time this goes free, it's becoming casual thing *yes*

About the need for an 'iLok Dongle' or not :

To register your product(s) on UVI :

1. Go to Product Registration tab

2. Enter your Serial Number(s) (which is provided/send to you when registering to get that FREE Library) below and your iLok User ID
(please ensure you have a free iLok Account - not necessarily an iLok dongle, just a free account, your ID will be asked during the registration process)

About the 'Downloading Time', it takes about 26-27 minutes from Western Europa and using the provided European ('Ireland') Mirror. *yes*

I'm glad they made this free, I was gonna purchase the Vintage Vault. I realized that UVI libraries are far less tweakable then kontakt synth rom libraries - What you see in presets is pretty much what you get.

UVI's goal also seems to be giving everyone access to famous sounds. For example in their "The Beast", they have the Thriller intro key/fx/pad thingy. Which to me means one less patch of theirs that I will actually use.

 

Ok, I played around a bit with it. Surely, it's not very tweakable and the sounds are not ultra many but its built-in fx and source sounds are pretty decent. It depends on your production of course, but they can sound pretty fat. You could most likely make those sounds with many other synths but it's got a bit of character. It's ok if you want to get some sounds fast with minimal tweaking. Some notes seemed to get stuck every now and again but it's probably my playing. Didn't have any issues on playback or export. The glides/portas are pretty smooth, too. I'd say it's decent overall. Dunno how much usage it's going to get but I'll keep it around and explore some more.

if someone can please break this into halves or smaller parts i would be so much obliged...i desperately need more free stuff

wow thanks, I nearly missed this, I love the sound uvi create of Roland stuff especially.my sort of sounds probably cos I bought a D-110 in the nineties and still one of my favourites for certain types of things. I used to own a ensoniq workstation until it fell apart, which I miss to this day, can't go wrong with a MI or a sy77 either. Listened to the whole catalogue of uvi expansions and this is the only other one I wanted, , this was nearly as sonically blissful as their Synclav set. Love what uvi doing here probably because the outboard they use and a excellent room makes these sounds good to go and no faffing about.
My downloads going okay so far, if you got problems if may be that they temporarily just created a huge strain on their servers.
