I have to say that I'm really about ordering an AKai Advance 61 to replace my M-Audio Axiom Pro MK II (its pads are out!)...

So, any more feedbacks from real recent users (and not Akai's promotional videos or tutos) will be wellcome!

Another question= is there a chance soon to see VIP software in an "unlocked" version on Audioz?... if the software just does what Akai says (scanning most of the usual VSTis/players and allowing constructions of eight parts multis with presets from our whole scanned palette), it would be great to test it with other "more advanced" MIDI USB controlkeyboards... Even if it's easier to use the right soft with the dedicated piece of hardware (like Maschine, Kore or Komplete Kontrol), those softwares are also good tools when piloted by other controllers with midi learn transported functions)...

 

I have the 61 and I'm going through it inside and out. But so far only vsti no audio units.

After you've had some time it'd really be a big help if you gave us your thoughts on it. I'm probably going to be getting this thing, from what I've seen it looks awesome

 

Mine is already ordered... two of my friends will get theirs in a few days (via Thomann) as they are already sent! I will have to wait cause it's hard to find Advance 61 keyboards on stock in the CEE area...

 

I've seen it at Musikmesse and tested it.
The concept of the software is: you can browse all the presets from all your vsti within one browser. there are categories like pad, bass etc and it doesn't matter if the preset is from Massive, Sylenth1 or Lush-101. This browsing can be done on the little screen on the controller. Plus, you can layer sounds.
That's it.
For me as a producer it's completely pointless and seems to be a half-assed answer akai had to come up with when Native Instruments introduced Komplete Kontrol.
Maybe if you're in a band or if you're a solo entertainer you'll have use for it.

If you want a good controller with a display buy the nektar panorama which takes daw integration to a whole new level. Plus the folks at nektar are really nice guys

what daw are you using? i had strongly considered getting this keyboard but i had read that unless you are using reason, it was not all that great a controller. aren't there several daws that can't even use the motorized fader - which is one of the main reasons that anyone would buy this keyboard? when they first released this keyboard i asked their tech support if it would work with sonar, and they said they were working on a template. that was a couple years ago - and still nothing.

I don't own a panorama I just tried it at the same occasion I tested the advance. Tim, the head behind it, walked me through. I have to admit, the integration is staggering. You have every relevant parameter of your chosen vst/i at your fingertips without having to assign anything. It works that flawlessly because the guys at nektar program the template for every vst themselves. It works best with bitwig, but reason as you mentioned is supported as well as cubase and logic. They try to get support from ableton but the guys at ableton don't offer the kind of integration they offer i.e. novation to nektar - yet.
It really is a small company so what you say about sonar makes complete sense to me...

 

Still going thru but in logic the transport functions aren't that good compared to komplete kontrol. So far the patches and multi page works very well with linking the different synths. Tagging is easy and importing is easy. With logic I think it needs more integration. I'm still testing so let me know if there's any questions you need answered.
