    Hi audiosexers,

I've been offered an Avis Artist Control EUCON controller for hands-on mixing in Pro Tools. It is offered brand new for less than US$900. It is a local store that is changing business niche, and it sounds like a great deal. However, I wonder if it's worth the expense. For that kind of money I could grab a Mackie MCU, a studio staple of long. I've owned a Digi 002 mixer before(sold it before it was too aged), a Presonus Faderport, and a Behringer BCF2000. I sold the Faderport because it was collecting dust. My BCF2000 is lent to a friend (and I don't really miss it). I was unable to modify my workflow to depend on these rigs.

Do you believe that my experience will be turned by this EUCON controller?

Am I missing other options? Of course, I don't have $1G. It's just that the price seems to good that I could run into debt only if it would enhance my productivity. BTW, I'm on Pro Tools 11.

    Thanks for your insight.

I thought about an external controller mixer and to me it just doesn't make any sense anymore to spend the money when you do it all in the box anyway it looks cool in your studio but to me I could spend the money on a lot of other things than external mixer that's just my opinion

I get what you mean. I'm not going bananas about it, but the option of getting a brand-new top-of-the-line controller at a good price sounds tempting. And it makes the memory of my old Digi 002 mixer seem to come from the dynasor age.

I once bought the Nanokeys and it was a total waste of money. It soon started to fall apart. The some of thekeys fell off like a cheap laptop keyboard, and it died when the usb female jack got loose from its socket, tearing apart the soldering and wiring.

That's the 4 fader unit? $500,- bucks off. Nice.. The Eucon protocol has advantages over HUI, like a much higher resolution (=precision). Plus, everything is pre mapped. Saves a lot of time.
Cons: Faders are noisy, but that's with all hardware controllers.
    Nice vid:

That's what I was gonna say - if you're into recording and producing real bands you should probably do it. Using midi based hardware (128 steps) for fades is sometimes really not smooth enough.

I run an old JL Cooper MCS-3800 over regular DIN5 MIDI with ProTools. I got it for $100 on eBay. It gets the job done.
